Hey-ooo! Hope everyone's having a stellar week and a happy #farerfriday!
Today, we've got a super snazzy-yet-fun, semi-dress/everyday type piece in that most glorious of diameters, 36mm, and from a lauded microbrand, to boot. If that sounds up your alley, give this review a peep.
Thanks, as always, for taking some time to watch the vid. Color me curious to hear what you think about the piece! I'll be on the lookout for ye olde comments if ya want to gab a bit with me.
Take care!

You're right to have chosen 36mm over the 39.5mm. These three-hand watches from Farer are all dial, barely any bezel, so it's going to look large for its size. As soon as I got mine (Discovery II, mulberry in 39.5mm), I had to ask myself if I should have reconsidered getting a 36mm instead... I've been playing with the notion that dial diameters of 30mm or better should be compatible with my big wrists. Anyways, no, I got the right size and so did you. Plus, one of the drivers for me getting my watch was that movement, LJP G101. I've told myself never again am I getting a watch with a small power reserve. We should expect better as consumers. And old movements that have done nothing new for decades aren't earning it.

We're definitely on the same wavelength. It's a shame they don't have that mulberry dial in 36 and opted for the cherry red one. I like the latter fine, but I imagine it's not as versatile as the former. Crossed fingers they do that someday. Absolutely with you the on movement front, too; that's a real value with Farer vs. a lot of other micros at similar price points. Thanks for sharing your comment and watching!

That red and blue Aquamatic is also my favourite, and, as you say, they finally build them in reasonable sizes

Right?! It's so slick. If it'd come out before I snapped up the Sorbet, the decision would've been extra difficult re: which one to get. I do hope they come out with an Aquamatic that just has a date, as opposed to the day-date, or dare I say, a no-date option. Ha, now I'm daydreamin'. Thanks for watching and have a rad day!

Thank you for the review. Do you mind letting me know if the Milanese strap work on a 5 inch wrist? I wrote to the company but their response didn’t give me a lot of confidence. Really appreciate if you can let me know. I really want to get it.

My wrist is 6.25in. I just took a look at it for you. From my measurements, it would just barely fit being cinched up another 1.25in. (to match yours), but that would push the clip all the way up to the case almost, which would probably look a little odd. They make some nice looking straps, as well, if you're not opposed to that. Beyond that, I'd probably recommend seeking out a different bracelet if you get this piece. I've been pretty pleased with the quality from a company called Strapcode; have a few of their Milanese and mesh bracelets on other pieces, and they're just a smidge smaller. Anyway, long-winded response. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching. :)

I have this in the white and the rotor is so noisy I keep wondering if something’s wrong with mine. It makes the watch feel cheap to me. What’s your experience with this?
@smolwatch
@smolwatch 11 ай бұрын
Hearting for the comment, not the noise, eek. I've never noticed mine. Do you have the 36mm or the OG 39mm?

I have the 36 with the LJP movement. If I as much as gently tap the crystal with my finger I can hear it rattle and when it spins around during regular use it's very loud. The only other watch I've ever had with such a noisy router was a plastic swatch auto. I emailed Farer about it and they ignored me so I left a comment on one of their videos and they responded to that saying that it's normal for the rotor to be noisy. But if everyone's were as noisy as mine I would have to imagine it coming up in reviews. I think I'll send it back to them to check it out. I've had the watch for close to six months. @@smolwatch

It's funny. I never consciously noticed it, but I went to check and held it up closer to my ear, and I can definitely hear it fairly audibly, too. So I guess that's just a consequence of the movement and the sapphire caseback (I actually tend to prefer closed casebacks). I reckon it's just muffled more when on wrist for me, and I'm not usually paying attention to it (or it's noisier environs, or I just have bad hearing, ha). Anyway, sorry it hasn't been a great experience. Ultimately, that's not a dealbreaker or big problem for me, but I can see how it could be irksome. All the best!

I think the name is less about the Naval Vessel as it is the Desk that was made out of the vessel which our President sits at in the Oval office The Resolute Desk.

@@smolwatch It does mention the desk in the story about the name, I took the connection as it being a British piece with an American design as a come together item that you can use everyday? haha maybe that's a huge reach but it kinda makes sense. Either way it's an awesome looking watch that really has it's own character. As soon as the Sorbet is back in stock I'll be picking one up. I like the original a lot.
