What I love about the Tau castes, is how competitive they are within themselves seemingly by default even tho they try treir damnest to be civil. For example. Fire caste of different companies get a little too competitive when they have training exercises together. Earth caste scientists are constantly trying to one up each other to the point of going on full mad scientist mode without Ethereal intervention Air caste pilots are known to race each other and pulling very dangerous maneuvers Water Caste tend to throw an ungodly amount of passive aggressive and backhand comments to co-workers they dont like and they will even commission artists from other species to make songs and art pieces that depict them in a good light while also slander their rivals. Meanwhile the Ethereals while they must present a good example for the rest of the citizens, if two of them come to a serious disagreement they will straight up trade blows (its a honor duel so dont worry) I like this because it gives the Tau as a whole more personality and it also explains how they manage to advance so fast even tho they havent waged wars with each other since the Ethereals showed up.

@trajanfidelis15328 ай бұрын
I don't believe they do.

The thing is that the T'au in the Enclaves seem to have become segregated. Every planet that we know of seems to have only a specific caste that lives in it with a very tiny minority of the others, not because Farsight putt that in place but because each planet was more appealing the certain castes. So, while Farsight "probably" doesnt have a problem with different castes cross breeding, it's gonna be a while before we see hybrids becoming prominent

How the hell does it make sense that the Air caste is so used to low gravity environments that they often can't walk on a planet's surface, but at the same time are adapted to withstand high G-forces in flgiht?
@SeraSmiles7 ай бұрын
My guess would be that their bones bend a lot before breaking compared to other tau. They can handle extreme G force for a minute or two but that flexibility means they can't handle "normal" gravity for hours on end without either deforming or snapping under the continuous pressure

Tau, where everybody is equal, but some are more equal than others. And where everything is for "the greater good", where the greater good, is always about you sacrificing you life, for the people in charge. I do enjoy how in 40k, they allow to lore to grow in a natural way, rather than to push message. So, when they make Tau, with the slogans of certain groups, the Tau will in time, also act like that group did in the real world.

@@haraldbredsdorff2699 It's literally not though. Communism requires a classless society and democratized workplace and government. Tau have none of those. Go read a book. Also, no communist group ever used the slogan "For the greater good." Ironically, JFK basically said this when he said "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
@haraldbredsdorff26998 ай бұрын
@@dangerousdays2052 It literary is, in every attempt done. Even Marx divide society into cast systems. Why do you think, you have The Party on top, the "working class" (that is really just the bureaucracy) bellow, followed by the citizens (that is the working class that was treated as slaves by those above), and at the bottom, the castlees, the "traitors", the ex-elites and those with jobs the party do not value. (people that nobody cared if got abused or killed, in some cases it was even encouraged) Marx whole idea, was just Plato's republic, but replacing the philosophers on top with "the working class" that is really just the marxist philosophers. And it always turn into tyranni that the marxist call "not real communism" or "fascism", because in a system where most people are not allowed to work based on what they value, only what the Party value, you will always need to use force, to make people even bother to work. So, it moves from "communism" to a fascist society, and then all the communist invent excuses, because they are unwilling to admit their ideas do not work in the real world. I do understand, you will be unable to understand any of this, because of your brainwashing, that make you just like the Tau, brainwashed by their Ethereals, but I write this, so other people can read it.

@pjmetzen34838 ай бұрын
I mean if I remember correctly, they do to an extent. Within the castes you can easily reach the highest positions of that class if you’re skilled enough. The draconian rules against muddying the castes is odd because there’s no real explanation for what when there are jobs or positions where castes overlap. This is partially because the lore about the shunning and punishment for showing interests in other caste skills comes from Phill Kelly, the mind that tried to say that the Tau fought the Damocles Gulf Crusade without FTL.
@The7Purplekirbies8 ай бұрын
All the more reason Farsight has done away with the rigidity of the caste system, people can move between them and presumably interbreed as well. Because people doing what they want to do with the mindset of the greater good without being a slave to the system deciding what the greater good is, are more productive than those doing what they're told to do because their philosophy and the guys in charge say to.
