Im not sure how any of her followers can justify these statements: I got lost in this horrendous neighborhood in New Jersey. I was really interested in watching these women. Most of them were African American women, a lot of them were really overweight. I wanted to tap into what they were feeling like…Some of them were actually feeling so hopeless that they were wanting rape." In a video where she is describing how she was made to look beautiful for people on every continent by the Arcturians she contrasts herself with a woman from Africa claiming “A really beautiful woman down in Africa may come up to the U.S. and be considered pretty ugly.” In a blog post she uses offensive and prejudice language about the people of Costa Rica, “People who live in a primitive state, more like animals in their behavior than people…Or the sexual aggression of so many of the men here…Or the fact that most people here are so relaxed that they operate on a time system all their own and do not seem to bothered by meeting standards of any kind.” Source: The Gucci Guru, inside teal swans posh cult

The fact that she hired that PI herself is evidence, IMO, that she actually believes she is doing honest work, to some degree (Teal). And she believes that she is not a cult. So how do you guys suggest people experience community, belonging, structure, meaning, being apart of something bigger than ourselves etc.? Because clearly these are human needs? Does truth actually exist? And if it does, how do we find out what truth is? I would like to avoid joining another cult, but it’s like my human nature needs the things cults provide, and when I’m not experiencing a sense of meaning, I can’t seem to stave off the feelings of hopelessness and dread that our lives are ultimately meaningless. How do we justify hope and joy, if we don’t know the truth? Genuinely struggling for answers.

I find it super interesting how you as strangers can tell what is a lie, can determine what trauma others have experienced and tell others about how someone truly is. All this by clearly not knowing anything about trauma or trauma responses, which explains a lot of your allegations and statements. You even say you don't know much about nature vs, nurture. Maybe get some deeper understanding of trauma before throwing such dangerous statements out. Yes, people can absolutely have experienced the most horrible trauma and do normal jobs, or even model. I can also 100% guarantee that for many people, if you ask one of their ex boyfriends and one friend, they might say really nasty and twisted things about someone. Videos like these are really dangerous in my eyes, as you're basically spreading your own projections, allegations and guesses about a person just based on your feels and opinion, without understanding anything about the human psyche.
@ZelphOntheShelf
@ZelphOntheShelf 11 ай бұрын
We know a lot about trauma, it’s been my main focus of study and discovery for almost 10 years. But it doesn’t take a genius to know that random strangers being coached to tell other random strangers stream of consciousness ideas like “you were abused as a child” with no qualifications or knowledge is not legitimate. Recovered memory therapy has been debunked by the APA and other global leaders in psychology and trauma. There are endless receipts of Teal being grandiose, therapeutically unethical, and downright dishonest about her own origin story.

@@ZelphOntheShelf You can study something for 20 years and still not understand it. The first 15 minutes show several moments in which you show that you have not understood how trauma or the human mind works. Who are you to judge if the story of a stranger on the internet is honest or a lie? Especially when its about the lived experience of that person. Only that person can know, that to me is grandiose and unethical to think you know the truth about someone else's life and they lie. She has also helped millions of people worldwide to find more inner peace, heal and not commit suicide.

Guys I really need to say tho, I've seen various EU medical professionals throughout the years and most of Teal Swan's theory is far more true, functional and respectful than the officially recognized stuff.. Also, I wouldn't discredit the possibility that she's been involved into some ugly shit and modeling around when younger, on the rotten relationships aspect, the two environments often go together quite well.
@ZelphOntheShelf
@ZelphOntheShelf 2 жыл бұрын
except she absolutely was not an international model. nobody can corroborate that story. also when she went to the police about being tortured in a satanic cult they couldn’t find a single sign of abuse or maltreatment.
@janlaag
@janlaag 2 жыл бұрын
@@ZelphOntheShelf You could access the police's records? And how do you know for sure that she's not been modeling in some foreign country? I mean she still got the looks for model stuff and that's just a job like many others, it doesn't really make all of them famous so how can you be sure she's haven't done it at some point? By the way if i remember it right in one of her earlier interviews she says that she stayed at her friend's house for a while and went to speak to the police way later (months, maybe more) when she started to realize that what had happened to her wasn't normal. If her story is true it is something so big and complex that it also makes sense that most people would rather not believe her and that some stuff might have gone biased even by herself. Anyways, most things that people say are often true in some perceptions and false in some others, maybe she said the truth, maybe she lied, maybe it's a little bit of both, we'll probably never know for sure, I do appreciate a good number of the things she says regardless of her story being true or not.

The whole bad ideologies/institutions can still have some good ideas thing is so important. Recently my friend said she feels that she follows a Christian moral code because of sentiments like 'love thy neighbour.' The most salvageable parts of Christianity are, in my opinion, often the most generic whereas once you unpack the uniquely Christian ideas it gets dodgy.
@venlakirahvi

I find the "cherry picking" aspect so interesting. I mean if you really have to cherry pick so hard and on the other hand struggle to explain away the other bad stuff with, what's the idea of continuing that religion? When you could just find another belief or value system that is more compatible with you personally? But I guess it's really difficult for most people to leave their familiar, reliable circles, especially if they have no other community or support in their lives.

It's simple. If you undergo regular therapy you have to face your demons, believes and you have to do very hard work. Which is long tedious and sometimes may seem unefective since there is no everlasting happiness at the end. Hence loads of people turn to strong gurus who tell them what to think and what to do. It's sad and exploitative.

@@babyhunt2000 there's light through the tunnel, not just at the end. I think a big thing to remember is that all of life is a journey, and while sometimes it sucks, you're still doing your best to thrive. Going to therapy can feel a lot like rehashing things over and over before making a breakthrough then struggling a lot to make a quantifiable change, but already just embarking on that process of doing your best to help yourself is going to start to improve your life. So it's not just that you'll have improvement at the end of the journey and everything will be perfect. Therapy is to help you improve your reactions and coping mechanisms now while facing your traumas so later they affect you less because you have more practice to lean on

Teal's 'mission' is essentially trying to force people to behave in the way she wants them to- but she introduces it as if she has the best interests of those who engage with her in mind, I can confirm that she does not, if it ever comes into conflict with getting people to behave as she wants them to. She has almost no respect for autonomy and free will which is why she can't collaborate.

I only recently discovered Teal and I do not perceive her to be the least bit morbid. I have not been exposed to the entirety of her content but for what I have consumed she comes off as highly informational and straightforward, definitely a masculine presence however as a psychologist I do appreciate information disseminated like a lecture. I can’t help but feel that garnering this cult leader reputation is in part the topics she discusses and the types of people her content may attract. With my overlapping interests in witchcraft and the occult, I think these topics also inherently cause people discomfort and the potential for misunderstandings and projections of our fears onto someone like her is facilitated. For me, the proof is in the pudding. If I or the people I have worked with have benefitted from Teal’s insights - feeling more whole, at peace less conflict, more connected- what harm has really been done? You can misapply or misunderstand anything anyone on KZbin says but in her case because of her position of power and perceived (granted) authority she seems to have attracted undue criticism. People disseminate harmful incorrect information on social media everyday and at this time I fail to see how she is one of them. In any case people do have a tendency to idolize people in positions of power to their own detriment all the time. The cult o the Kardashians have contributed to so much shame and body dysmorphia, irreversible physical, psychological, and spiritual damage to people and yet people are worried about this woman. No be is above examination but this woman clearly triggers people and it’s interesting that people don’t reflect on that but at the same time willingly and unconsciously follow much worse ideologies and people that are socially sanctioned, like politicians and prominent people like Bill Gates. Not impressed with the discourse on the “controversy,” in fact, it seems dramaticized to me in the grand scheme of things that actually threaten our well being and spiritual evolution.

i mean she did hire a private investigator to prove her organization isn’t a cult and the investigator ended up telling her it is. we hear you on there being more harmful people in the world. but we’re not telling anyone to follow bull gates or the kardashians either. we’re glad if her content helps anyone but there is no doubt that some of her teachings and practices (like using debunked false memory implantation to convince people they’ve been raised in a satanic sex cult) are actually very dangerous.
@Moccsnosocks

@@ZelphOntheShelf I am aware of the controversies around memory implantation and the harm that they can cause. For better and for worse, this is a risk some practitioners choose to take and as part of a clear informed consent process is something a consenting individual should be able to choose to do if undergoing such therapies and treatment including regression therapies. Just my professional opinion. Given her niche, topics of discussion, & her as a person, the development of excessive devotion absolutely can be a problem. However, the word cult can be defined in many ways and not all "cults" are harmful. Our culture uses the term pejoratively but this is a complex, nuanced topic. I would have to look into why whatever she is doing is classified that way so I admit to ignorance but saying it's a cult doesn't mean anything to someone like me, I would need more context on that which I will pursue so thank you for pointing that out.

A friend showed me her and to be honest, I couldn’t see the appeal. She seems very robotic, lacking empathy. Like behind her eyes there is nothing there. I’ve been in contact with a ton of spiritual leaders and can tell when someone has light in them. Well after hearing two interviews from her ex boyfriend and her childhood friend, intuition confirmed. She displays various characteristics of a narcissist. Apparently she put out a video saying how the narratives were changed yet in that video did not address how she treated Juliana after she questioned her methodologies. People tend to forget the best narcissists always display a good front in the public eye and are highly intelligent. One good example is Ted Bundy.

She reminds me of Elizabeth Holmes. Low masculine voice, minimal facial expressions, and just kind of dry. It obviously hypnotizes some people, I just don't see the appeal of the somber way of speaking. she's the opposite of a charismatic leader.

Watch her explanations to why the documentary portrayed her how she was portrayed. She has actual recordings of the convo when the dude asked her if she looks up to anyone and it's not at all what the "docu series" released. There's a lot of missing audio. Same to when the one girl said "it's BS" about her life being better after seeing TS. Again, audio missing and spliced together to make it sound not as it was.

Have you watched the recent response videos where she exposes some of the scenes that were twisted in the documentary ? She obviously has some original footage too, and it seems to be totally different. The film makers really betrayed her too. You could say that it was for the sake of "exposing" her… but how is that approach helpful to twist things ? I like to hear different perspectives… but I think the truth here is not that black and white… it’s a very complex thing.

New Age cult leaders are fascinating, because it’s really easy to see how they got to where they are. It is interesting that a lot of cult members will also defend these things, in the same way that people defend Christianity (not saying that Christianity is inherently a cult but…) by basically saying that the positive things outweigh the negatives. That’s not actually how anything works though, the only way methods can improve and actually be overall positive is if they are open to criticism and open to change and growth. If the methods are supposed to be flawless and work for everyone inherently by nature, then they can’t be criticised. And this is the trap that cults fall into, is thinking the methods are above criticism. Anything or anyone who believes they are above criticism are ultimately going to be harmful, and continuously harmful, and any positives cannot outweigh harmful things when those harmful things aren’t being addressed or changed. Nothing is above criticism, and if your instinct is to jump to defend any criticisms levelled towards your belief before considering whether the criticism is valid, it’s probably time to take a step back and reflect on why it feels like a personal attack and why you feel as if you can’t accept feedback. Just because you feel defensive or attacked in the moment, it doesn’t mean that acting on that instinct is valid. I do honestly think that Christianity and the rise of the nuclear family is largely to blame for the rise of modern cults. The nuclear family completely obliterated community other than those religiously associated, which inherently creates a society where people join religions and potentially cults to fulfil the inherent need for community. And the majority of modern cults are either based on or based in opposition to Christianity. These things are also tied to capitalism and the fact that late-stage capitalism has caused further divides in community and lack of meaning in life. It’s not hard to see why cults rise up, and there are active things that can be done to counter it. But it would involve breaking down Christianity and Capitalism and modern societal roles, which is a huge task. Removing people from a cult doesn’t solve the issue, because the gap that the cult filled is not inherently filled by re-entering society. It is telling that a lot of people who were raised in cults like Mormonism will become sort of like cult-hoppers, because it’s so much easier to go to something familiar than to actually move into new territory. This was a long and rambling comment. But yeah, the point is the issue with cults is simultaneously an individual and a larger societal problem, and solving one will not fix the issue, it needs to be a complete overhaul of everything that leads to cults, which isn’t going to happen anytime soon unfortunately. We can continue to take small steps, moving towards the bigger goal.

Honest and genuine comment here. I love Teal. I grew up where she did and also had a Mormon background. I see her dark and light. We all have dark and light. It’s just a matter of who denys to see their own darkness and deflects it into others. I respect your perspective but Teal has done more good for this world than many will in one life. You are bound to have a lot of pushback when stepping into the space Teal has. Lovers and haters. Anyone would. Teal does have a really good ability of making you love her or hate her because she is just good at mirroring back your own shadow or light depending what you surpress the most. Now is a time in history to be for something instead of against something or someone! It has to be understood the more dark a person could have will rebound to the amount of light, no? The Deep end was truly not a true depiction of her life. It was SO skewed. I also beleive Teal was an ass sometimes but she knows this herself. So? Would yoh have moments that you wouldn’t be proud of if someone followed you around with a camera for THREE years??? Yes we all would. I’ve done so much I have been ashamed of. Teal rocks but I wouldn’t ever consider her above me or even a fan of hers. I’ve watched almost every single video and studied her for two years. So, I get you guys like I do. But she is a good person. ❤

All any intelligent person needs to do is learn about her earlier life. Listen to people who lived with her and were friends with her in her teens. I believe she was very much spoiled by her over protective and over indulgent parents who gave her everything her little heart desired. They tolerated any bad behavior and constantly told her she was "special'. I think early on, she exhibited signs of personality disturbances that were inborn. Her parents believed that by giving her "everythin" she would improve. As a child, she told a therapist she believed she was the reincarnation of Cleopatra and that her parents were there to serve her. She tells people she cannot do any housework or cleaning because she was programmed by this satanic cult to never do "self care". The women who've lived with her for years do all the cleaning and dirty work for her. Who could be dumb enough to fall for this manipulation? She had other women raise her son because she just wasn't into the "mother thing". There is nothing legitimate about her. She has no formal education beyond high school. She has admitted to suffering from severe mental illnesses. Her past behaviors would lead one to believe she has very poor character and possesses no ethics or morals of any kind. Her only credential is this incredibly ridiculous back story she cooked up about being from another planet and having special powers, like seeing through bone and skin. She says she can read your mind and even move things with her thoughts. I think she believes she is better than the rest of us. The only credential she has is this sickening story about being held by a satanic cult headed by this veterinarian who was helping her with her horse. She claims he was raped by him at 4, and many times after this, impregnated and aborted by him, sewn into a corpse, prostituted out of men's rooms as a child, forced to entice small children into the group so they could be burned to death, had sex with a dead body at 19 and went onto say the vet ate part of this dead guys leg because he was a cannibal. She could barely contain laughing at this point. In one online interview, she expresses hatred for Elizabeth Smart simply because she came from wealth. This Chris Oswalt tv interview is still online but very long and very crazy. She is very low brow when it comes to the stuff she if putting out and a woman who lived with her several years ago said she gets everything for her little you tube videos directly from other people's books which she frequently takes verbatim. Sardeep Swan, her ex husband, used to have a podcast about her but gave it up. He claims she cheated on him on their honeymoon. He more disturbingly says she let it by known to him she is obsessed with money and fame and will do anything to get both. He claimed she knows she is a fraud and is fine with it. To me , thisis the worst thing. I think the only ones who can contain her are the feds. She has received numerous warnings about doing psychotherapy without a license, but this has no effect on her.

Everyones voice has an energy signature. Its hard to find a moment where you can pick up a sincere down to earth sweet energy from Teal. She often starts off by huffing puffing this air of extravagance before starting a point she wants to share. Some people have a airy throat. When they speak, they mentally reorganise their nervous system to make up for her layers of insecurity by and through making themselves sound authoritative, powerful, entitled, commanding. She program herself this personality so she would never be challenged by anyone who is more authentic and genuine than her. Because if it ever happens, this layer of personality she built in as automatic prime personality will always kick into gear and her body language, its very masculine and inviting people to entertain her with their attention and she keeps living her best life through the validation from huge groups of starry eyed worshippers. Her spirit is a man and not a woman. Back to previous point about the personality, she doesnt like a challenging divine feminine because she is not divine feminine. So she retorts to questions of divine feminine nature with a snort and a subliminal body language where she would substract the enemy in front of her while imitating the enemies cognitive response claiming as her own. She builds her identity from many genuine people who are true healer and can heal, but she curse them by stealing their light and block their good karma. If you compare her voice signature with other female spiritual guru or wonderful successful woman who are wise and compassionate. She is a grunt and is not even on their level. She may have a chimera spirit attachment or ancient djinn that possessed her soul and took over her body for their pleasure of living on this planet earth while deluding people who are easily swayed by sexual perversion and attraction and many people who fall for her movement have trauma regarding mentally abusive parents who throw enticing breadcrumbs and expect adoration and idolisation. Most of her followers gain from the feeling special she gave them and its like a toxic affection. Its unhealthy connection. Despite what she shared on her channel about spirituality, the facts are 70% apparently quite thought provoking, but she isnt fully anchored in her heart and humbled down. Her success is genuinely sourced from PR strategy of because she can use her sexuality and lay many claims. For a sensational story. She will continue squeezing this juice till the very last drop.

Your description of memory isn't scientifically accurate. Traumatic memory is repressed/dissociated from, but it comes back through post-traumatic stress responses e.g. flashbacks. So, while memories can't be pulled out "neatly from a chest", it's not true to say they can't be repressed either.

As for being honest and authentic, I’m afraid I can’t agree with you there, after having interviewed her childhood best friend and seen other evidence of her not being those things. I think Teal provides a space for people to connect with their vulnerability, which is obviously a much-needed thing in our world. To me, the equation is simple. The moment you involve monetary reward/payment where your livelihood depends on the "help" you are offering, there needs to be some kind of of regulatory body to manage this so there is limited possibility of abuse. This is why medical professionals have to fit certain criterias and training to qualify. There is still potential abuse however those who abuse are aware they are not following the basic reason for entering that profession. Anytime you have someone triggered by a person asking about your credentials or who inspired you to to become the "helper" that you long to be, there is dissonance with what you claim to be and what you've actually become and offer in reality. The first rule of manipulation is to make you doubt your own intuition.

The thing is that Teal does not even teach that you should rely on teachers/gurus. I know she is claiming that she knows everything there is to know at the moment and that makes her hilariously nuts to me but she is still able to self reflect in many areas that people are not acknowledging or even denying. Teal states in her video about false prophets that one should see every person they encounter as someone with a deck of cards and they can pick a card or more and take them if it benefits you or leave them there. Teal actively teaches against codependency/people being manipulated. No, really. I myself am a codependent and Teal literally can‘t stand us. Which makes me as a codependent really scared to visit her workshop. Not like terrified scared but because of the fact that Teal would bring up a LOT about my life that I built on inauthenticity (the things I try to deny) as to make me have a stronger sense of self. But still, every person knows that Teal hates people that do stuff for her even though they don’t want to do it because those people will demonize her if they don‘t get what they want to get. Teal is no saint AT ALL and she lacks self reflection on many aspects but still, the media is trying to paint her as a cult leader in aspects that are not cultish. Many people would not follow her if she wouldn‘t offer at least some degree of truth and I think many critics don‘t know the full picture since the perceived „full picture“ is that she is driving people to suicide and harming them which could be true to some degree since we all harm people but not her teachings folks. If you really think the completion process is scary then you simply don’t know how it works. It‘s not like this creepy “were you ever abused? Did your father abuse you?“ type of questioning. It‘s simply just 1. feel the emotion 2. ask the emotion: “when was the first time I felt this“ CPs are not implanting memories, they are simply asking if there are some. I sound like a lunatic defending Teal but I truly am able to discern about her problematic side on many many aspects but that does not instantly give people the right to spread lies and to create an explosion out of a fire.

@@ZelphOntheShelf I personally see much more validity in your interview with Diana. It also baffles me that Teal just tried to act as if Diana was not even her friend even though I have yet to find that clip myself. However,If any critic recommends/recites the documentary I just cannot take their judgement very seriously. Bits and pieces are true about her in that documentary but seriously there is so much more out there you can use against her. Seriously, I know A LOT about Teal, I have watched interviews, podcast with her featured on and when you/Diana/Ex-Followers share their story/take on her I try to be as open and in touch with reality as I can. Let me tell you, if I came to you, filmed three years of your life, including all the bad things you have said and done in those years and spliced them up together, it would work. And people could use the argument that it‘s still bad even without the context. Still, things are edited to such a degree that context is actually really, really important. Oh and if I understood this right you said that Teal tried to convince Diana that Diana was part of that cult, too but in the interview with Diana I can’t recall her stating such thing. I only recall her saying that Teal tried to convince her that TEAL was abused but not that she tried to drag Diana into that. Maybe I misunderstood that. Anyway, the case is clear, Teal is someone that has done/stated things that are highly dangerous and manipulated many people. Even the director claimed that he didn‘t portray the events as they were filmed but much more how they felt to him. Problem is that you, and many people are seeing Teal through the filter of a cult leader and therefore everything she does gets filtered through that and makes more objective perspectives almost impossible to people like you. I feel like if you made a documentary about teal the results would be similar and that shows that you are not the best person who should talk about this. If you want to know if I have examples on some people (including professionals) talking about her in a way more objective way and not in a “SHES A WITCH“ attitude: Psychology in Seattle Mickey Atkins Pop Psych Dr. Todd Grande (Teal Swan is Not a Con Artist by Lindsay which is a pretty interesting take on Teal while seeing her flaws)

@@jbeauty4150 well this topic is not that black and white so excuse me for being all over the map. At least I can say that I‘m not slipping into black or white thinking. You haven’t responded to any of my arguments. Also, Teal hates codependents because 1. she does NOT want people to serve her when it conflicts their personal needs. Codependents do exactly that. They do things that they actually don’t want to do or even never were asked to do and respect something in return and if they don’t get that they lash out on that person and/or call them a narcissist for not doing the same for them. But stay in your black thinking.

I'm subscribed to TS. She was just so so for me. Didn't love her, didn't hate her. Felt though something was off. And I saw the Mormon Stories with her best friend, and so watched that earlier today. Then I started to watch an interview with BOHO Beautiful right after and TS was describing her alchemy tattoo. They noticed the scar in the middle and TS said, "it's a scar from my abuser." I was all holy f*ck, she is a psychopathic liar. Very curious thing to become aware of. The scar looked just like a small self harm cut her best friend talked about. I just was shocked at how blatantly and easily she lied to them.

You are exactly the reason why I'm so scared of humans. You are mostly talking about the surface of things from a negative perspective. Where is the positive? Everything she does is to be thrown out? Yes maybe she needs to be called out on some aspects of herself, but aren't we all? What you are doing is throwing shade at someone who's working her ass off to provide free mental health. Free. I have personally been watching a lot of her videos and yes she's not perfect but she has helped me TREMENDOUSLY to see a broader truth of myself and other people. I really disapprove of your video ethic, it is extremely biased and based a lot on negativity. Again : where is the positive? And another question : aren't you doing exactly the same as what you're calling her out on? E.g. manipulating people [to have a negative opinion on Teal Swan]? I find you guys much scarier than her.

Sounds like toxic positivity to me. It’s also pretty inaccurate to say that she does what she does for free-if anything it’s her followers who provide free labor, not her. I think we mentioned in the video that what she’s providing that really IS valuable to people (regardless of whether her methods are a net positive, which we obviously think they aren’t) is space to be vulnerable and emotionally connect to others in a world that is very deprived of those things. And because it’s something vulnerable people are so desperate for, it makes those who provide it capable of having a lot of undue influence. I’d invite you to look more critically at who she is outside of the stories she spins. There’s a Mormon Stories episode with her childhood best friend Diana Ribera which is extremely informative. There’s also “The Gateway” and “The Deep End” and another Mormon Stories episode with a former partner of hers. This is a channel dedicated to discussing high-control groups, and Teal Swan was on our radar for a reason. You don’t seem to be able to reckon with the fact that she’s amassed a LOT of influence and is totally unwilling to look at herself objectively-she’s mired in grandiosity. And her methods are not new, they’re outdated strategies the psychology field has already used and discarded for a reason. There’s a reason she was told to stop practicing mental healthcare without a license by the state of Utah.

You make good point that emotional issues are NOT often rooted in buried memories. Modern Cognitive Therapy has proven that most emotional issues are due to sloppy and distorted thinking. Even childhood issues can still be healed by simply examining the distorted thinking and fixing it up.

@@tomektalk4671 as cult survivors we are fully aware that even the most dangerous organizations and people offer a lot good things to the majority of their followers, otherwise nobody would follow them. it’s still worth talking about the harm they cause through bunk practices or desire for control. cult members always villainous former cult members for “focusing on the negative.” that’s just par for the course in this field.

The way I see this is the way that things are approached in medicine. You can acknowledge that some things are beneficial but the vast majority of the time needs to be spent analyzing and acknowledging the potential drawbacks. We're all wired to be much more affected by negative life events (our brain's way of trying to protect us from future harm), so a negative experience will effect someone a lot more than a positive one will. Also, cults are like lithium for mental health medication. We know that it is beneficial for some things, but even with the things it's beneficial for, the drawbacks are huge for the vast majority of people, even ones who it works for really well. It's good that you had a positive experience, and I'm glad that it worked for you 🌹
