Right like how it’s Cyn’s job to promote Olaplex as her brand affiliate, sell her services online for $100/$250+, and promote relaxers, heat/hair straightening, salon services because if everyone is a natural she’s not making any money.

How does Cyn chastise naturals for their practices that she deems unhealthy then turnaround and cosign her viewers into relaxer that have been inconsistently linked to risk of estrogen-dependent cancers. Research this research that, health this health that but promotes every single chemical, heat, salon practice because it fills her pockets. Naturals don’t make her money so her mission is to discourage it. Speaks in half truths for her convenience and convenience only. Even more funny she spoke in the vid about naturals hating their curls, then proceed to like a comment about a viewer not liking their curls so they straighten it.

Im glad you pointed this out. I've also have a Channel, although it's not for hair, it's my ministry. I've seen so many videos' from so many women, pushing products that are not needed, yet some of those SAME KZbinrs, are now walking around with short hair, and they're saying, 'OH I JUST WANTED A CHANGE IN MY HAIR SO I CUT IT", when in reality, they're hair was damaged from using all of those products that they were making money from. I just look and I have to laugh because it's actually comical.

Everything in this video is facts as someone who went to cosmetology school and only lasted 4 years in the industry because people don’t want what’s best for their hair they just want a style and they don’t care the cost and because some may do the service despite the damage to the hair it’s so refreshing to hear this. I’ve been watching your videos and I purchased your 7 day challenge which is amazing btw. I’ve been a relaxed girl and my hair never suffered BUT I’ve been natural and my hair has had some roadblocks thank God I was never a kitchen chemist or product junkie but I veered off my basic and simple routine path. Late to this but loving it. Jouelzy tells it like it is. I recently met up with a new temp we hired in the office to put the name to the face. I am now relaxed and just past BSL. We met up had a drink and chatted. As she was leaving she gave me a card with a number and said call her when you are ready to cut your hair. I was like scuse you? Why am I cutting my hair? She said when you want to go back to your natural hair she does a great big chop! Meanwhile this chick has bleached blonde 1-inch long hair on her head! I had to remind her that ammonia and peroxide are chemicals too and my hair is healthy and flourishing. This chick thought she could police me! Like geddafuckouttahey!

I’ve been saying this for EVER. For forever. I don’t even like the curl pattern system because it’s a load of bull shit… but these “influencers” with 3c/4a hair were exploiting the fuck out of black people with ACTUAL 4c hair. In reality, every product, wash and go method, leave in, shampoo that I’ve ever used from watching natural hair gurus literally did me so dirty. Let me tell you, there’s not a single leave in conditioner that did wonders for my 4c hair but I sure was breaking bank because of the kind of mind control that influencers had on me. Bruh I went back to old fashioned grease and Camille rose honey leave in conditioner (that actually DOES something for 4c hair) and my hair grew down to my waist.

We not gonna talk about the texture discrimination within the black community that caused all this. If we wanted to embrace whatever texture we had and learn to love it genuinely, then products would not be marketed the ways they are. Is there any wonder why the natural hair influencers with the loosest textures get more views, specifically from women whose hair looks nothing like theirs? Come on now. The newer natural hair community was chasing length and a certain texture and that is why it failed. Is there any wonder why many 4c hair influencers ran back to the creamy crack en masse? But let's blame the companies who just respond to what we consume. We still have a ways to go to untangle the patriarchy from our minds.

Great video!! It’s mind blowing to see these former natural hair folks abandoning their channels. You are spot on about the marketing demographic and it not being women with more textured hair. All the marketing ads featured images of loose textured hair and somehow folks thought if they used those products, they would achieve the marketed look, which was impossible to achieve. There is a reason we have professional and to take skill and put it in my hands is nuts. I’ll do what is needed to maintain my hair between appointments but I know my skill level and i value my time so i go get my hair done and take care of it as instructed by my stylist. The baby hair trend makes me laugh. We are full grown adults wanting to brush down our baby hair like our Moms did when we were kids, don’t get it. What’s even more odd is that most of those ladies do not have baby hairs but are using their edges or making baby hair out of their regular hair. You are spot on about some black folks not wanting to pay stylists what they are worth but white folks will. They aren’t trying to manage their hair at home besides the regular upkeep until their next appointment. As always, thanks for the knowledge!!!

They are no longer doing natural hair content because other women realize they really don’t know shit! I hate what textured Melanated women on Y T have destroyed real hair care. These women got paid to push trash products to women who were made to feel like their hair is undesirable and couldn’t grow. Now a lot of my former clients whose hair was flourishing, now they looked like plucked chickens because they listened to Naptural 99. A lot of black women want to do their own hair and they think they can look like girls with straighter hair if they use Miss Jessie’s or Mixed Chicks. Another reason these YT stopped doing product promotions because these companies stopped paying. They don’t need them anymore. CYN IM DEAD WITH THE PICKLE JUICE. I have had people come to the salon with cooked eggs and avocado in their hair. I have enrolled in college . I am done with hair! I only deal with my clients who only come to me now. Those are the stylist you picked. The natural hair movement was made up and the results have caused over 65% of women to run back to salons. Only about 40% of black women went NATURAL SIS. Other women stayed right with their cosmetologist. We have inflation like everyone else so our prices go up with the rest of the world but there are affordable professionals with no drama at all. I was one of them. There is no school respected or no legally backed cosmetology program for NATURAL hair because it’s a fad that’s dying out. Hair is hair, either chemically treated or virgin. It’s either straight wavy or curly. Only a small percentage of the world has straight hair not just black woman. Black woman are just the only ones that feed into the marketing and made it their identity. It’s not that we didn’t understand it , we overstood the long term result which is what black women who went natural are dealing with now massive scalp infection n follicle death. You cant get on KZbin without your favorite natural KZbinr telling you about their alopecia.❤️ Dont blame an entire industry for the type of professionals you all went after. Around 4:57 it's funny that you mention professional cosmos starting their own brands bc I remember Jane Carter Solution was a brand I used at the start of my hair journey and I felt was prominent online in the early 2010s. Follow that up with what was happening of the celebrity stylist side, you have people like Felicia Leatherhead and brushes selling out even till all these years later I've heard it's hard to get one. So these big corporations had to shift from the cosmos being their main clientele to their competition and the consumers like you said had to make up for the loss to the bottom line.

The belief that women with type 3 hair don't need products and only need to focus on keeping their hair clean is a misconception. Most type 3 hair would look like a tangled up mess of a bird's nest without a styler to keep the curls as defined as they are when the hair is wet. The curls may be defined when they're wet, but if left to dry without a moisturizing styler, that definition and manageability is gone. Type 3 on white hair is not the same as type 3 on black or biracial hair. Some of the brands that launched before KZbin in the early 2000s started because there weren't any products marketed to biracial women or black women with type 3 hair. At that time, styling products in the black aisle of the store were usually for tighter curls (relaxers, texturizers, heavy moisturizers, etc.) and the styling products in the aisles for white people were too drying and left your hair hard as a brick. The black or biracial woman with looser curls was an untapped market at that time. Because there weren't any products for their naturally curly hair, they often straightened their hair. When products like Mixed Chicks (2004) and Curls (2002) launched, more women with looser curls stopped straightening their hair and started wearing their natural curls because they now had styling products that would keep their curls defined even after it dries and wouldn't dry their hair out and was actually moisturizing. Right around that same time, there was a lot of information starting to surface about relaxers being unhealthy not only for your scalp, but also linking relaxers to medical conditions such as uterine fibroids and female cancers. Black women decided they wanted healthier options and stopped using relaxers. Many black women found that the products marketed to a multiracial audience worked great at moisturizing and defining their curls. This is how this 2nd wave (since the 60s & 70s) of the natural hair movement took off. Once social media became a thing, it became something different. The focus quickly shifted from overall health to curl definition. I love curl definition, but it seems that the message of protecting the overall health of black women got lost and as a result, the younger naturals didn't seem to get that message. Now natural hair seems to be more of a styling option or a trend despite the fact that it was fueled by a desire to protect the health of black women. We were startled at that time by the research that link the chemicals in relaxers to uterine fibroids knowing that black woman are much more likely than any other race to develop fibroids. I love that we learned how to style our natural hair and that we made a norm to see natural hair in public spaces, but I'm also disappointed that the focus on overall health was drowned out. I also appreciate the many product options we have now because there were almost none when I went natural. I started using Curls in 2009 and I still use their products exclusively. Before that, it was a lot of trial and error with finding the right products.

@@IamCynDoll Thanks for your response. I was just offering some insight on what the buzz was at that time when the natural hair movement first started to pick up steam again after its original start in the 60s & 70s and to say the looser curls do indeed need styling products. I personally don't care about the hair typing system, but I used those terms simply because that's what most people are familiar with and I want it to be clear what I am talking about. I'm perfectly fine with saying looser curls and tightly coiled or whatever...doesn't make that much difference to me.

Well Damn Cyn , tell the truth. I started after I got old enough going to the Hairdresser. I will always promote going to a professional, that's how my Mother started me and they are educated. Thank You, I only have been on You tube, since 2016. I wanted to know how to keep my hair from being dry, I do have curly hair and I did not buy all those products but I did fall for wetting my hair all the time . But now I watch You and learn how to not wet my hair but take care of it. I've did my own hair for all my life, but when a professional licensed Cosmostologist talks I will always listen and pay attention. Thank You for helping Women with there hair of all types.🤓

I don’t know how many times I had to tell my clients this… I only take clients that are serious about their hair… I had so many that decided to mix and go in they kitchen and buy into the big brands that were made by Caucasians for black women… It’s no different than Gina but that’s a different story….

Correction: The Natural Hair Community was birth among black women married to nonblack men. Confused nonblack husbands encouraged their black wives to be their authentic selves. I went natural in 1985 before KZbin. I got Sisterlocks in 2004. I’m an OG to this. I ain’t new to this. The first KZbinrs began their journey as online diaries to embrace the hair that grows out of their own head. Plan and simple. Of course the vultures swooped in because we set the trends. These vultures did not have to weaken or undermine black cosmologist because most of y’all did not care about hair health. Y’all fried dyed weaved and styled ONLY. What Joulzey is speaking of was when the 4Cs realized they only got free product while the biracials and 3Cs were SPONSORED. 4Cs were not making “bands”. They some made a little money from views. Yes many have moved on. There is only so much you can do with hair. Natural hair in its natural state is not easy so they were not taking the easy way out. Relaxers wigs and weaves are the easy way out. Most of the women on the relaxer boxes did not need relaxers. That’s a scam which cosmologists promoted. 🤔 WHEN A 4C CAN WALK INTO A SALON AND WALK OUT WITH A TUCK N PIN HAIRSTYLE LIKE TEYONAH PARRIS AND NOT JUST A SILK PRESS THEN WE HAVE COME FULL CIRCLE. I was an early adaptor to KZbin. Yes there were black hair Nazis in the mix but these young girls were not liars. They were just trying to learn to love themselves without straightening their hair. An option most cosmetologist still don’t

Most people are not applying common since. Everyone's texture is not the same.Peopel running out buying products looking to get a different texture. Unfortunately still today you have to put disclaimers on these products. A hairstylist can be of great assistance teaching thier clients. How to use the product for the hairtype.

I got on this "natural hair" thing after Chris Rock Good Hair. So going "natural" I live in area that don't really have good beauticians. I didn't know where to go what to do, and I went down the KZbin rabbit hole. Now here I sit nappy, and no edges. I'm going back to what I know.

@@IamCynDoll Im not saying it’s new. The video is addressing product pushing to naturals just to make money off ppl but it’s not for the benefit of the Hair. In the past year or so I see more n more stylist pushing olaplex n I see u suggest olaplex as well. So I’m just asking is it safe to trust these stylists or better yet the product?

Seed money. Can you say Shea Moisture. They made their millions from black women with little to no marketing. Once they made their seed money and had to pay for marketing they decided black women was of no use to them and didn't use those brown faces in their add campaign.
