Seppo Repo's name is the 70s equivalent to Kaapo Kakko. Absolute goated names

Repo had a weird career, he played for example in Japan in the 80's and was the man who scored the title winning goal for his team TPS in the first season of Finnish League (Liiga). Plus he had a moustache.

Noticed the Ottawa Civics in this video, that was a weird one too. They moved from Denver suddenly without even announcing it publicly as part of a deal where the owner was trying to sell the team. Supposedly, the players didn't even know. But the deal fell through, and the team folded, after playing only 7 games as the Civics

The Oilers had an incredible, but very nice, number of shots on goal in this game ... 69. They had 33 shots on goal in the second period alone. 33 shots in 20 minutes. They had outshot Finland 51-7 after two periods. And Gretzky had "only" one point, a goal to give Edmonton a 7-1 lead in that wild second period.

Finland actually played 5 games the year before in a WHA tour: beat Cincinnati, Birmingham, and Indianapolis, lost to New England and Houston. Sweden also played 5 games going 1-4, so they may actually hold the record for fewest games, because they played no games the next year. Also, you can't really just call the WHA the NHL, that would be like calling the AFL the NFL before the merger, or the ABA the NBA. They were entirely separate entities. You can say major league games because the WHA was indeed a strong major league. Still an interesting video...

@@TylerAven10 but if his verbiage is so specific, how can he then say "if Gretzky was on the Oilers, it's the NHL" which he's just stated they weren't. Can't have it both ways. From a historical standpoint, it's just wrong. Trying to be witty perhaps, but accuracy counts more...

Matti Hagman and Jari Kurri after losing in one game: "If you can't beat em', join em'!" Sad that Hagman missed out on the Stanley Cups, though. Looks like he went out the year the Kings had that unbelievable comeback - the elimination of the Oilers and the end of Hagman.

Although you can't just make up that a team played only one game in the NHL but actually didn't because they played in the WHA, this was interesting. Don't confuse the NHL and the WHA. That's not right to neither. The 1978/1979 season was of course odd, because everybody knew the WHA was folding, so they could do what ever they wanted. And of course the league was small with only six teams finishing the season. But the Original Six wasn't more than six teams either. Seppo Repo may not be famous in Canada or the USA, but he played a whole decade in the National team of Finland. He was a member of the Finnish Canada Cup team of 1976. One of the real guys. I think Phoenix Roadrunners tried to do with Finns what Winnipeg Jets had been very successful doing with Swedes. Not a bad thought, but it didn't work out.

@@PinholesGraham Just because Gretzky played in the WHA it's still not the NHL in any way, Gordie Howe played for the same team in both leagues as well. Just a tad clickbaity, given that most hockey fans probably don't even understand the function of an asterisk.
