Over the years I've found these '50s films about how 'normal' family life should work to be increasingly appealing.

I was expecting pulp hysteria about juvenile delinquency and instead was treated to a practical, thoughtful, and even touching production about some of the day to day challenges most family units must navigate. All set to an awesome soundtrack!

Joan is 15 and “ adequately” good looking? She is absolutely fantastic , looks Like My Wife did at that age and puts many Girls that age today to shame. I was born the Year this was filmed My Wife was borne when I was 14. I worry about what kinds of girlfriends My Grandson’s will have or Boyfriends My teenage daughter’s have. Most of the kids in the San Francisco Bay Area look like they got tangled in a fishing net , hung on a trout line or are part of a Gay parade. They and many educated adults 15-20 years or more My junior’s have uptalking metro gay mannerism’s and speech.
@pennypay1 Жыл бұрын
Joan is lovely. I liked her friends, too, wearing their pretty scarves and graceful skirts. I was a teen in the 80's; at that time being well-groomed was still relatively important to most of the girls in my junior high and high school. Sure there were New Wavers and goths and other subcultures, but a good deal of thought was given to the outfits and accessories. We wouldn't have been caught dead in public in pajamas or shoddy-looking hoodies and old sweatpants just for the sake of 'being comfortable'. Somewhere along the line people got so apathetic about dressing. And such widespread gender-bending is way too widespread now, and frankly off-putting.

I envy the way they used to dress back then. Clean and dignified. No School Uniforms needed when everyone is dressed as their best. What you see today... is TRASH. Disgusting haircuts, clothing that reveals 75% of your body, ripped/torn clothing, tattoos, piercings, social media that promotes degenerate behavior, etc. We are certainly de-evolving at an alarming rate.

Keep in mind that these are mostly actors. Of course they’re going to look good and dress nicely. And old folks have always thought that the younger generation is taking society to hell in a handbasket. There are examples of complaints like yours going back thousands of years! Considering all that, it’s frankly amazing we still wear clothes at all and mostly still refrain from fornicating in public.

How times change. Now they start going “steady” at around 12. And how dare a friend takes your boy friend. There could be a school shooting! I have two daughters and I can’t imagine any boy being the right one for them. Knowing what I went thru as a teenage boy, I’m preparing to learn about sex from her. Just yesterday she just asked if me and her mom were having sex. Holy cow. I almost died. However, it shows me she feels comfortable talking about it and that makes me feel a bit better than she will make the right choices. Sigh. To be young!
