Great video guys. We couldn't get onto the beach at Eyre Bird Observatory when we went last February, was a super steep, soft sand dune blocking access. Twilight Cove was our absolute favourite camp on the whole track, and we did all the way from Israelite Bay to Eucla. Solid effort getting the trailer in and out of Twilight Cove!
@RovingBeyond6 ай бұрын
Yeah such a dramatic change in the conditions along the track, you can read plenty about it but until your there one of those tracks where things definitely change and need to be prepared for it, yeah twilight cove was stunning 😍. Yeah was a bit of fun towing the trailer for sure, couple of soft spots but otherwise all good 👍🏼 . Thanks for watching 😊

Wise choice to get back of the beach.. it's very very treacherous.. seaweed gets covered in sand and turns into a salty smelly goop without any warning.. spent 8 hours there digging and digging before we got out.. hope you get through the water.. the track along the cliffs are spectacular further west! Alternatively go out to the highway and come back down to Baxter's from Belladonia.
@RovingBeyond7 ай бұрын
Yeah being solo and towing we didn’t want to risk it especially when I was getting late in the day, we had done a good amount of beach driving up until that point and tbh the dune track in near the cliffs was so spectacular anyway 🤩

When you plan such - what is the longest distance have you done between fuel stations? If you carry extra fuel in gerrycans, how many litres (or gallons) did you carry? Also, how much water did you carry? Did you have an emergency Satphone? Years ago, my brother, a mutual close friend and myself, after taking the Indian-Pacific from Sydney to Perth, rented a car and drove 'around the top' back to Sydney. Had the time of our lives, took our time and had many stops at various roadhouses and towns along the way to 'quaff a few draughts'. At that time, in March-June 1980, they were in the process of paving the last section (some 400 km) of the Great Northern Highway (south of Broome). The western desert is beautiful. Your video rekindles many fond memories... Greetings from Montreal, Quebec, Canada! (edited for spelling mistakes)
@RovingBeyond6 ай бұрын
@@SailorGerry longest distance we have done is 700kms, at the time we had a 45ltr tank and 2x 20 litre jerry cans we get about 11-14ltrs per hundred kms depending on where we will be driving I calculate if we have enough fuel, now with the added left hand side saddle tank (no jerry cans though) we have 90 litres of fuel so we can safely get 800kms of range, we are looking at putting a fuel tank in the rear to extend this further. We carry 70 litres of water in a poly tank. We have a GPS Personal locator beacon with us at all times. That sounds like such an epic roadtrip I’m glad you got the opportunity to see some of Australia’s most remote and unique places (especially in the 80’s) Thanks for the support from across the Globe 👍🏼

Thanks appreciate the feedback, yeah it is the 3.9 but has been turbocharged which makes it a lot more highway friendly towing. Heaps of Torque down low still need to get it properly tuned, have just tuned it so that the EGTs are safe and it doesn’t blow excessive smoke 💨
