Eddie was one good looking, sexy talented Black man. Even as he got older. And he had a charm about him that is every girl's dream, especially when he smiles. I grew up listening to the great Temptation's music, but I had never really heard them speak before, so it is enlightning to hear Eddie talk about things that went on when he was part of the group. Eddie was not mean. You can tell in his interviews. He just let them know that he was not a brown nose. He said so in an interview. He said "brown nosing" was something could not sleep with. He said he had talent, and he did not have to brown nose. I love that interview. He had talent and was handsome. Otis said that because Eddie might have let Otis know that he was not going to brown nose with, Berry or anyone at Motown. Good for him! EDDIE was wonderful!!!

Agreed. The biggest problem I have with Motown is that their business relations with their artists were manipulative and exploitative; therefore, most of them never earned as much money as they should have. It made me angry when I read that Eddie didn't have health insurance in his dying days. Of course, many of the artists made bad financial decisions like giving up rights to royalties, but with a boss who was working against them, they didn't have a fair chance.

I love Eddie too! However, I don't fully subscribe to the whole "ass-kissing" theory. If you really pay attention, ppl who often say they ain't kissin' nobody's ass usually refuse to take direction from the president of the label, from producers, from songwriters, who gave them songs in the first place to sing and become famous. We should all agree that Flo (bless her soul) was her own worst enemy. And Eddie shot himself in the foot aplenty during his tenure at Motown. After all, while as he said, they knew where or what they wanted to do, but frankly, it was Berry who signed them. Doesn't he deserve some credit if not respect? So, ppl who refuse to show respect or appreciation usually don't last. #Facts and #RIP Eddie...
@lecuyerdooley1084
@lecuyerdooley1084 5 жыл бұрын
@@calvinterrell2053 Motown and Berry deserve credit for handling the music industry aspects of the Temptations careers, but Eddie is definitely right about the Tempts creating their own style and choreography and understanding how to harmonize and sell sex. I think everyone has to decide invidually what they can or cannot, will or will not endure to be successful. Flo was living with demons, so I think her story was going to be tragic no matter how she responded to success. Eddie had his time in the sun and his legacy is forever memorialized through those great songs -- so he has lasted far longer than his Earthly presence and will continue on into the future.

@MsLady328 100: I can't imagine Otis criticizing anyone's physical appearance. Eddie was absolutely gorgeous. As you so astutely indicated, Otis, not even in his wildest dreams, looked better than Eddie. Otis was a hater because he was less talented than the other group members. Moreover, as far as Eddie being slender, so what? Different strokes for different folks. Afterall, not all females prefer gentlemen who resemble Sumo wrestlers, not then, nor now.

Man, this is a GREAT interview!!! I have never heard Eddie Kendricks speak before so this was just a long time coming, and much appreciated. The Temptations set the bar for all male singing groups let alone male singers. Mr. Eddie Kendricks' voice is one in a million and reminiscent of a warm embrace. Thanks for FANTASTIC vocals Mr. Kendricks, R.I.P!!!!

I truly wish that ALL young people wanting to get into the music industry could "HEAR", and "UNDERSTAND" how true musicianship is created on the back's on men like Eddie, Blu, and Otis, Bobby.... they paved the way for the younger generation.

Great Great guy! - I had the opportunity to work for him in B'ham when he cut the "Love Keys" album back in 80/81 doing sound and lights.etc. We had some great tours setup with Smokey, Pointer sisters,etc but things never got off the ground for one reason or another..Then was offered the job to tour with the him and the Tempt's reunion tour but I had moved to Spain, so missed a great opportunity there for sure. We lost him way too soon!

Eddie is a beautiful man with a beautiful singing voice. There is nothing wrong with his speaking voice. Give him a break!! The man was born in the south in 1939, (no insult to the SOUTH) and that being said I think the man speaks beautifully. Love you Eddie rip!! PEACE TO ALL!!

I heard he was a nice person. Did you take care of him at home? It is sad we lost a legend. He was so handsome. I had a crush on him and a few others. He had a cousin stayed on my street. His cousin was also nice. I never met him. I grew up on his music in the 70's.

Eddie didn't take no mess. Barry Gordy it seemed just didn't take care of the ones who helped him build the MOTOWN SOUND that was so popular and well loved by different cultures all around the world. But when a young Stevie Wonder demanded that he would have control over his master recordings and what he would record before he signed a new contract Gordy knew that he met his match. This is a big reason the Jacksons left Motown. They wanted artist control. So Eddie was right not to brown nose this man.
