Shadow work is a really great way to get in touch with yourself and has really helped me work through some things but please note that shadow work is not a replacement for actual therapy, shadow work can help you through things and bring many helpful self realizations but it is absolutely not a cure for mental illness (i.e. Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, ect). If you are suffering from mental illness please reach out to a medical professional. Hope everyone has a blessed day!!!!

If you have ptsd, cptsd, have endured childhood abuse and/or neglect, or even just wince sometimes when you think back to being a kid in relation to how adults treated you, don't do all of these. you will spiral quickly into things completely unrelated to the prompt because that's how your brain works. some might be okay depending upon your background, but if there's any doubt **get help** before diving in. If you experience depersonalization, derealization, and/or complete dissociation, asking questions about your sense of self will make your symptoms flare up. this message comes to you from your friendly neighborhood mentally ill person who has been in therapy for over 2 years

I was thinking about all of these prompts and I literally don’t have an answer because what is a self? 😂 I was emotionally neglected and physically abused from the age of 7-12 and the emotional neglect continued on into my adolescence. More trauma in my adolescence and now I’m diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. It is not a joke, I just literally don’t have a sense of self. Be careful if you want to do these prompts kids! Always look out for yourself. Shadow work is there to help you, not to harm you, so if at any point you feel like it’s too much take a break. The point isn’t to sacrifice your mental health for this. So yeah, Emily, I totally agree with your statement and it’s very relatable to my situation

I tend to write everything in my shadow work. Sometimes I’m too mentally tired to think about new things and analyze them, so I go back and read what I thought and how I felt in the past days and try to see if something has changed or I’ve something to add. Thanks for the video🥰

i have always been good with shadow work ever since i got into the craft and never let myself be intimidated, but the past two years have been traumatic especially since me and my mom were in an abusive and dysfunctional household. I do need to do some shadow work, but getting started has never seemed so tough and scary. I'm scared of what I might discover but I know i'll feel better after crying it out. So thank you for this

(Also, thx for the reminder, I have to do some shadow work=))) ) It doesn't really have anything to do with the video but I kinda want to share a bit of my story hoping someone might help me a bit. I am a baby witch and, back in February this year, I did a guided meditation to meet my spirit guides and a tall girl with blonde curly hair showed up. I didnt know who she was and after that i didnt really pay much attention to the spiritual world until in july when i was in a very bad mental state. Recently I started to see a lot of signs from the deity world. Since I was little I have been obsessed with cats and roses so I searched about the Cat God/Goddess and i found about Bastet but I wasn't really happy, I felt like it was not her. A few days after I did a guided meditation for meeting my deity and a black/ grey cat showed up and I also felt a presence in my room. Later I found out about Freya and I did some research and I really think she is trying to contact me. Since I found out a few things about her I started to spot some signs like one day, at school, I had a test and I had to do problems 1, 3 and 13 from a list of 20 problems, or 2 days ago when i did a meditation and after that I turned on the light in my room and the letter "F" formed on the floor(like the light formed in the shape of an F and around it was shadow), or yesterday, my cat, that really hates to stay in my lap, jumped on me to pat him. I made a candle for her, covered in honey and sugar and I put a white flower on the side of the glass the candle is in. I also made some offerings for her like I put coffee, sugar, honey, a rock that my cat was playing with and a seashell that kept jumping out of the basket in a jar and I was like "Hey Freya, you know, this is for you, hope you like it

There's one thing I have been dealing with. I decided to start to write down moments I felt desperate, scared of, ashamed of, etc, and things/traits I had going on I thought could be labeled as a shadow I did not know what exactly was and how to deal with. Used some questions as guidance and it worked, realized a lot of things that were holding me back I did not even know were there. Point is: I found it all out - what the heck am I supposed to do to sort it out now? Because, even if it's easier to deal with knowing where it is coming from, how do I solve these problems? I am starting to consider going to actual therapy and maybe that would help. But it would take so long for me to open up about it to anyone and actually come to terms with saying all those embarrassing things to another person. And I do not think I even have the money for it right now. What do you all recommend as techniques to approach questions you have just found out about yourself during your shadow work?
@jazmyneb2585 Жыл бұрын
this is where i’m at rn. i think the point is to not look at these questions as problems to fix but rather see where you could be giving yourself grace. when you do something you don’t like, don’t beat yourself up about it because you’ve ‘figured it out’ be gentle with yourself and accept that you are coming to understand and accept yourself. a term my past therapist used VERY frequently with me was ‘radical acceptance’ it doesn’t do you many favors to be critical of yourself when you make a mistake. i hope this helps
@andressamonteirodesouzamor6462 Жыл бұрын
@@jazmyneb2585 It actually did help, thank you. Makes a lot of sense and I'll try this. It's exhausting to try and fight everything I ever did wrong or judged myself about, and it doesn't even matter anymore to anyone but me.

Acknowledging privilege and working towards being actively anti-racist is not virtue signaling or pandering. The fact of the matter is, simply not being racist isn’t enough in a society that is built on racism. As much as people don’t like to hear it, not doing the work is nothing short of complacency.
