Chris, I’m always amazed with your videos and anecdotes about your favorite records and the shows you’ve seen. I know you have worked in the Music Business in a certain capacity; I did as well, probably in a much lower status than you, but no matter. I’m very touched by your stories about your brother and your subsequent work in the mental health care arena. As someone who has battled Anxiety and depression my entire adult life, it is amazing how many people suffer from it. I applaud your efforts to shine a light on this issue. I don’t want to barge in on a very personal situation, but I gathered you lost your brother Lane in tragic circumstances. As someone who has lost two siblings over the last few years, I have an idea how difficult it must be, and still is. Grief is never a linear process. Kudos to you and your channel. I love almost all the bands and artists you talk about. As we both grew up in the CD age along with vinyl, it hurts to think about all the vinyl I got rid of…ugh! However I’m building my vinyl collection up again. It’s a joy, though I can never part with my CD’s.😂 Anyway, I love your thoughtful and introspective comments on music and life. Take care and keep up the great work and all the best in your work and your channel. You are a truly kind soul…Bruce

Great list! I'm going to try out some of these. Billy Joel story brought back similar memories. Wife and I were on vacation in London in May 1990. Got on the tube to go somewhere and were sitting by a couple on their way to Billy Joel concert. We followed them and scalped tickets. It was a great concert and one of the highlights of our trip...all by accident. We didn't even know he was in town. Thanks for the video.

Chris - thank you for sharing your love of music. Music really ties us to our memories. My brothers and I grew up listening to so many different bands- tons of memories for sure. I’m not a huge Bruce fan but my roommate played the hell out of The River - I love The Ties That Bind! I’m also a big Rockpile - Nick Lowe (saw the picture on your KZbin page) fan as well. Take care my friend. Thank you again for sharing. 😊

Anything by Black Sabbath, UFO, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden. Old Scorpions. All great Bands in which all their albums in their first ten years are amazing on vinyl. So nostalgic. All these bands had energy, imagination and were extremely good at their instruments. Rush too! One has to have the first 9 Rush albums on vinyl. Amazing band! Billy Joels "The Stranger" album was I think the first vinyl record I ever listened to as a kid back in the 80's. Wonderful record. Probably the best!

I saw this post last week before it became a "thing," but I didn't comment here. This struck me as a subject that may be uniquely suited to collectors, so I appreciated the concept immediately. We have our favorites, we have the works we consider to be the most towering achievements (which by nature are not necessarily ones you can just put on over and over again because they can be demanding), and we have our reliable standbys that may or may not be "great" records, but they are dear old friends. So, in the spirit in which you offered your list, I'll put forward these personal selections (in the random order they occurred to me): 1) Stevie Wonder -- "Innervisions"' 2) Joni Mitchell -- "Hissing of Summer Lawns" (an underappreciated cinematic anthology of short stories about women's lives) 3) Bill Evans -- "At Shelly's Manne-Hole" 4) Warren Zevon -- "Excitable Boy" 5) Elvis Costello -- "Armed Forces" 6) Aretha Franklin -- "Spirit In the Dark" 7) Talking Heads -- "More Songs About Buildings and Food" 8) Al Green -- "Call Me" 9) Isaac Hayes -- "Hot Buttered Soul" 10) Steely Dan -- "Katy Lied"

Let it Bleed... no arguments there. White Album is a bit messed up for me. I want to take out Revolution 9 and cut in Hey Jude. Then, I may go there more often. Strong sides 1 & 2 for sure. Brian Ebstein's absence is really felt for me. Nerve calming? I may reach for the mid-1960 Tijuana Brass. Record my brother introduced me to: Concert for Bangladesh. I probably listen to All Things Must Pass tracks more. The River is not so much of a mess for me. The opening two tracks just have a 'sound' that I don't know the E Street Band ever got back again. It repeats again on the first two tracks of sides 2 & 3. This was out at the peak of the Album Era, when putting out a double album meant something (we could think of Elton John). Billy Joel is an amazing artist. River of Dreams is a favorite. But The Stranger was HUGE.

Rolling Stones Beggars Banquet but it could have been let it bleed or exile just as easily. Velvet Underground 1969 lp. It should have been their crowning achievement. I knew your brother and we hung out quite a bit when I lived in Chicago 20 years ago. Lane was instrumental in helping me get shows for bands I promoted, and we were best of friends for several years. I had last texted him just a month before he died, and I never imagined that this happened. What's really odd is that I was just talking about him today. When your video randomly popped up on my playlist, and you started describing Lane's music taste, I knew you were talking about Lane. I never knew over the past two years, nor imagined, that this happened. Loved your brother, man - he was a great guy. I hope he's at peace. Feel free to drop me a line if you want to talk - I am so heartbroken over this.

It’s a really interesting topic. I think our favorites may be tied to our lives, in some way? At least for me they are.

My friend Lisa is the booking agent for Billy Joel and Rod Stewart. Lane relentlessly busted my balls because she got me a free ticket to see Rod with Cyndi Lauper opening at MSG in 2018.

He thought it a good thing or a bad thing that you went? Just a dig on present-day Rod?

@@TheLongCut1 He thought modern day Rob was garbage. I guess your mim had the Rod Sings classic rock CD and would play it when he visited. Rod did z my play any of that material at the show I saw. He did Do Ys Think I’m Sexy, which admittedly isn’t my favorite. But he also did Stay With Me. It was great. I went for free, but would pay to see him again.

I suggest you read the POST over at MAZZY as I left an idea there that would do you more good than him since he has a schstick (sp) already established (and he never listens to me anyway!) ;) lol

So when you aren't listening to the Rolling Stones Let it Bleed you are listening to the Beatles White Album all the time.
