*My favorite bit of comedy is in the apartment as the landlord asks about the odor coming from the room. The Terminator cycles through possible responses and comes up with "Fuck you, asshole", which is a nod to the scene where The Terminator first arrived and encountered/slaughtered that gang of thugs led by Bill Paxton.*

Kyle was in love with Sarah because he was told all kinds of stories about the type of woman she was by John, as well as being given the picture. John had to ensure that Kyle fell for her so that Kyle would volunteer to go back, ensuring his own existence. It was a post-apocalyptic world where machines hunt down humans, so it's not like Kyle could exactly ask a woman out for dinner lol. I think it's a shame they didn't use the same make-up in Arnold's eye scene as they did when he was in the truck near the end, and then just use the animatronic head for the red eye close-ups. It looked a lot better.

The 'Toy' terminator was used because they wanted to make the robot eye move convincingly. The best they could do using an actor was how they did Arnold in the truck, a piece that couldn't move that would look obviously stuck to his face in a straight on shot, especially if they added the mechanisms to move the eyeball. There were ways to do it better back then but that would have been a lot of labour, time and money.

In T2 when we see the Terminators "Half Face in the steel mill his robot eye is obviously just a light bulb over his real eye. It looks awful beside the other SFX.

"I'll be back." I highly recommend watching the extended version of Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) with the definitive ending. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that version and adds context that was originally taken out, anyone that says otherwise is pushing an agenda. Fun Fact: The crew had "You can't scare me, I work for James Cameron." t-shirts made. Casting Notes Fact: O.J. Simpson was considered for the Terminator, but the producers feared he was "too nice" to be taken seriously as a cold-blooded killer. Ironic. Director Cameo Fact: Near the beginning of the movie, when Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) receives a message on her answering machine breaking her date, the voice on the machine is James Cameron's. Make-Up Shenanigans Fact: One afternoon during a break in filming, Arnold Schwarzenegger went into a restaurant in downtown L.A. to get some lunch and realized all too late that he was still in Terminator make-up with a missing eye, exposed jawbone and burned flesh. Gun Enthusiast Fact: Arnold Schwarzenegger worked with guns every day for a month to prepare for the role. The first two weeks of filming he practiced weapons stripping and reassembly blindfolded until the motions were automatic, like a machine. He spent hours at the shooting range and practiced with different weapons without blinking or looking at them when reloading or cocking. He also had to be ambidextrous. He practiced different moves up to 50 times. He wound up garnering a compliment in Soldier Of Fortune magazine for his realistic handling of the guns on camera (whereas the magazine usually lampoons movies for their inaccurate depictions of weapons use).

@bobbombar67112 күн бұрын
No blade runner ('82) or technicaly 2001('70) would thake that alocade. O.j. Simpson was originally up for the part of the terminator but was nixed as to unbelievable. Arnie read for kyle's part but decided to plat the terminator instead. He also got props from actual gun users on how he handeled the guns in the film.@Jem-Reacts

@@bobbombar6711 thanks for reminding me, also let's not forget the old fashion movies with goofy robots out of control in the story. 🤖 hell, frankenstein too 🧟♂ tho in recent times terminator first couple or few movies are a pillar in entertainment about evil ai in the cyborg version.

@@bobbombar6711 you're right. i guess i should have been more specific to say terminator is more in the cyborg realm of ai. where hal is a program speaking through an obvious computer and terminator sort of changed that with more human presence

The limitations in the special effects aren't only because it's 1984. It was also a relatively low budget movie. By the way, you're very perceptive. You figured out a lot very quickly.
@Jem-Reacts3 күн бұрын
You are the second person to tell me that, and now I appreciate them more, It's not easy to make a movie with special effects and low budget that can become what this movie became. It has earned my respect 👍
