Great analysis on the amazing scene from the first Terminator movie. Byway, what is your thoughts on the deleted scene where Ed (Paul Winfield's character) tells Kyle to protect Sarah and gives Kyle a gun?

Sucks that it was cut, I wish Traxler had a more heartfelt send off in the final cut, but at the same time, it was probably cut so the pacing would be kept tight. Also it makes the fake out more effective when the last time we see Kyle is when he knocks the guard out to take his keys. There's another deleted scene where Sarah tells Kyle that they should both try to destroy the terminator, and Kyle's all like "thats not my mission" which is bizarre. Then Sarah punches him when he refuses and then Kyle finds a flower and then cries because he hadn't seen a flower before. Thats a scene that I'm incredibly glad was cut. Both Kyle and Sarah are written horrendously out of character. Its way too soon for Sarah to be all gung ho about fighting the Terminator, she's still supposed to be a scared normal college girl, and Kyle being all cowardly about fighting the Terminator and then crying over a fucking dandelion kind of goes against his nature as this super capable hardened soldier. Just goes to show that while some scenes that get cut are a sad affair, some are not.

@fwwaller Little Correction: The deleted scene where Ed gives Kyle a gun and tells him to protect Sarah takes place after the fake out (which Sarah was with Kyle when Ed gave him the gun). My apologies for forget that detail.
