I've suffered from it my whole life, as a kid it was terrifying..I saw vampires and shadow entities and was sure they were real. Salt is something I used as a kid to make "protection potions" and "spells" that I'd sprinkle across my doorway and under my bed to keep monsters out. I grew up in an abusive household and looking back, I was using my little imagination to do my best to help myself. It's a bit of a downer but it's the memory this story brought up for me. I'd mix it up with stuff from the garden and keep it secret. Edit: a more fun story - My class read The Witches by Roald Dahl in elementary school. I ended up convinced my elderly neighbour was a witch because she had the same tell tale signs as written in the book as a warning to other children. Her teeth had a blueish tinge, she wore a wig because she was bald, and she legitimately had no toes. I called her out one day like a menace because I didn't want her to baby sit me. Found out later she just had the diabeetus. Lol.

thanks for sharing i use salt with iodine in my house too - it helps purify the air as i've read and i pray the Lord's prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) over my house & i say it out loud ! - i've done this for years salt will kill weeds - when sprinkled on top of weeds & mold dies from salt put on it too ! Salt acts as a purifier. taking salt baths too helps purify our skin (the body /thyroid needs iodine salt to function properly as well) ✌🏼 you can read about anything i stated peace 🕊️

Okay- tasting the drugs... I used to be a police officer. The tasting a small amount of coke would numb the mouth, not necessarily get them high. The quicker the numb, the better the coke. With the advent of field test kits 'tasting' is not a thing anymore. As an undercover officer, you are taught how to fake using. If that's not possible, and you have to use a small amount to establish yourself with dealers, you have to report it immediately, go to counseling , and get periodic drug screens. Sorry for the rant. It was a while ago that I worked in Florida, so, if someone more current knows more, please let me know.

I have sleep paralysis almost every bluddy night, accompanied by lucid dreams. The sleep paralysis now is literally just being unable to move which is really annoying. I saw 'the old hag' (the presence felt or 'seen' during sleep paralysis has been called this) a long time ago and for some reason she stood in the doorway while I laughed at her, she never came back. Now during an episode I just can't move. Usually I'm trying to turn over and can't. It happens during my lucid dreams that are exhausting. I scream, yell, talk and laugh in my sleep. I even occasionally sleep walk. I've lived alone for a very long time so I don't know for sure how often. Only when I wake up during it do I remember. The dreams, they are frustrating, usually because they are much better than my reality. In them I am safe and loved and yes, I fly. At times though I relive life events, that play out just as they once did in reality. No matter what I do or how hard I try I can't change the outcome. I wake up screaming usually. My last hospital stay, I screamed at the top of my lungs apparently and I was woken by nurses. They were a bit disturbed by it. Maybe it's why I never married or found a partner. I hope when I go, it is during a good lucid dream. Where I can stay for eternity surrounded by peace, love, comfort and free of all pain.

I look over and I see the creepiest wide eyed, stringy haired man staring at me with one eye through the crack in my door, grinning like a psychopath. I try SO HARD to scream, to get up, to run and slam my door but I can't move, I just sit there and stare at him while my door starts to open more and more. And witches vary in form, I think. From the broom-flying, spell-casters of yore, to modern day manipulative, narcissistic, evil people who hide behind the "dark arts" to gain a false sense of power, like this woman.... she didn't get what she wanted, but believing she was a witch, she had the persuasive power to make Christopher believe it also. She may know a bit of hypnotism, and power of suggestion... and whether or not she's a real supernatural witch, she may as well be, because of her intent and the end result.

I once had a nightmare or terror in college after a long night of studying physics. Got home to sleep for a midterm and instantly hit a nightmare where I thought I was being possessed. I started to pray in my dream, Hail Mary full of Grace.. over and over. It started slowly as I was fighting for thoughts with a grumbling voice or something. I kept praying and I started to go faster and faster then boom hit a bright light. I was facing my alarm clock. 13 minutes had passed and I was frozen stiff. I slowly got feeling back & was confused. Was able to get back to sleep by telling the Devil he’s welcome to take the midterm for me. I got an A.

This just shows how our unconscious mind can work against our beliefs especially if you don't confront things. For someone who was seemingly uninterested or fact minded he certainly fell into believing crap ! Seeing shadows, do you know cataracts start when you're young. Sleep paralysis can certainly be frightening. Personally when it happened to me I did so much acid when I was in my teens it wasn't unnerving for me at all. I didn't have any scary creatures though, just lights, and noise. Feeling like you cannot breathe sounds a lot like sleep apnea which can affect the heart !

When I have sleep paralysis I can wake myself up by forcing myself to relax fully, even though I'm terrified. Over the years I've learned how to do this. Now, I can tell when I'm likely to get sleep paralysis--my sleep just feels off-- and can wake myself up before it happens, then do a "re-set" by falling asleep again.

Sleep paralysis is 100% caused by a person's eyes being slightly open and the brain basically waking up before the body does. A sleep mask that completely covers your eyes is an instant cure. Some people get it from being overtired (like "night nurses syndrome") while others may have naturally weaker muscles in that area.

I've dealt with sleep paralysis and he describes it perfectly! Although there's nuance to it person to person, like I won't have somebody sitting on my chest, but when it happens to me I usually sleep with a TV on and I can see what's going on on TV, my eyes are wide open and I can look around only with my eyes to see my dogs in the bed, see my partner laying next to me asleep, and then I hear this super loud vibrating buzzing sound that envelops me and it keeps getting louder and louder and i feel it in my body like a heavy energy/pressure... Almost like when you're at a concert or in a car with super loud bass and you can feel it in your body but it's like 10x stronger. Then I see the shadows moving closer and I realize the buzzing is coming from them bcuz as they move closer I can see their mouths wide open and that sound is coming out. The only thing I can do is open my mouth as wide as I can and although I think I'm screaming my partner's name but the times that he's heard me he says it's barely an out of breath whisper. And I just keep saying help help over and over but that I could barely move my mouth to even muster out the word. He has to actually sit me up bcuz If I only move a little I'll fall right back into it. He says that the times that this has happened the expression on my face is always the look of absolute terror and fear. And you do get this feeling of doom or sometimes you even think you might die

I have lucid dreams. I normally will think something is off in the dream and then I realize that I can feel the bed along my side even though I am standing in my dream. I don't have scary dreams of people sitting on my chest screaming but that is probably because I can't sleep on my back.

By then I am so tired that I fall asleep again and am back in the nightmare so back to trying wake up. I have this for like 35 year almost every night. Its like being in "Nightmare on Elm street". The point is you are the only one throughout all these years who I hear say that he has i too.

I'm feeling Keith's pain on the sleep paralysis - it started in my early 20's, much less frequent now...I never had visuals but felt as if somebody/thing was pushing me aside in my own body- sometimes it was an angry or scary type entity and I would only be able to control my breathing in hopes my partner would hear me struggling and put their hand on me- that would bring me out of it immediately...I remember a tentative and gentle type experience and I thought I'd allow it to happen to see where that would lead, but as soon as the paralysis began I did a quick nope and the feeling lifted off immediately, almost like this particular entity didn't want to cause me fear or stress...it really doesn't feel like a body chemistry thing! It feels like an invasion of your body and most often it is a terrifying experience 😢

Try this for lucid dreaming instead! Ask yourself how you got to where your are. Did you drive? Walk? Come alone? With friends? Even if it's in your own home, ask yourself how you got there last. The second you realize the dream just started there, and you don't remember how you got there, you can start to control your dreams. It's so crazy! I've been doing it for years!

I just wanted to chime in and say that it is true that you feel a sort of sense of impending doom but a weird distancing from everything when you're having an MI (heart attack). At least that is exactly what happened to me. Luckily for me, I didn't have any reason to think much of it other than that it was odd and brushed it off each time it popped up until I wound up in the ER and then it all made sense.

I experienced sleep paralysis a couple times when I was around 14 years old. It is very disturbing. I heard my mom drive home, come into the house hollering for me then come to my bedroom door but I couldn’t turn over to see more than just the lit end of her cigarette. She then went into the bathroom. When I was finally able to move, I discovered she was not home, I called her work and she was still there! Definitely not as terrifying as someone on my chest strangling me though!

A friend of mine’s uncle got up with his arms in the air screaming when the Montreal Canadians won the series screaming of joy. Then his hand of his chest, strange face expression and died right away. We called my friends mother to tell her that my friend was in the hospital and they found out she had aids, her mom died on the phone. Yes it happens, joy or shock.

As a practicing pagan, I can tell you, this is exactly how curses work. You tell someone that you've cursed them, then they freak out and all the bad stuff, no matter how minor, they blame on the curse. Until they're in a full blown panic. However, the fact that it worked on someone who didn't believe in that sort of thing, is a little odd.

32:29 Long story short: She (doing some sneaky things like cutting his fingertips) believed that she had put a curse on him. He, believed she had put a curse on him, to the extent he literally scared himself to death (by scaring himself to the extent his heart gave out) Had he not been such a 'gentleman/h0m0', and simply 'given her the business' when she offered, he'd likely either; still be alive, or, suffer a cardiac event while 'giving her the business' and keeled over while in the act (rather than in a bath-tub, stewing in his own fiIth 🥴🥴🥴🥴)

I used to have moments where I was in between sleep and being awake. It would feel as if someone was trying to drag my covers off me. And it would be like tug of war. I can hear myself groaning but then I’ll wake up with no issue

The salt around the butter churn and milk pails and such was a myth born from necessity in some regions. People would use salt (or chalk or any crumbly, grainy substance) to surround stuff that had to sit out because it was believed ants wouldn't cross the line. It does work to an extent- you can't just draw a single chalk line but if you put a decently thick chalk or salt line on concrete where ants are roaming, you'll notice they tend to turn back or wander al9ng the line and then wander away on the same side instead of crawling across. And even if one or two do brave the other side, they usually won't have the rest following them like they normally do on clear territory.

I have found that i can wake up out of sleep paralysis by saying "wake the body up." Idk why it works, but it does. My logic the first time was that my body wouldn't move because bodies don't move when they're asleep. But my mind was awake, even while dreaming, because I was thinking, so I only needed to wake the body. I'm not going to argue with success.

I had to serve on a grand jury for 3 months. Before we started hearing cases, the police came by to explain their jobs and stuff, and the cop explaining drug cases (and working under cover) said that OF COURSE they didn't "taste" drugs to see if they were drugs, lol.

Talking about sleep paralysis. I had to take pain meds after and between surgeries. Almost a year. It is terrifying. You try to scream. Can’t. Small movements to get out. Feel it in your jaw. Red light aliens jumping around the room the first time. Your afraid to drift off because of you do your certain you will stop breathing. Your all alone. It’s nuts.

I've had sleep paralysis twice. Both times it felt like something was pressing its knee HARD into my back (I was lying on my stomach) and it felt angry at me! No woman in white, no shouting, just the immense feeling of hatred and pressure squishing me. Eventually I came out of it but the whole time I really had felt like I was awake and being attacked. Side note, also had a couple lucid dreams that were pretty neat.

24:21 That makes sense; salt was much more of a commodity back in the day, and I guess someone who needed salt couldn't afford it, and if they couldn't afford their own salt, they likely wouldn't be able to afford to replace what was borrowed, which could indeed lead to bad feelings 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

My relative used to dream that there was a huge black cat crouched on their chest with its face on their face trying to suffocate them. We had sleep paralysis dreams so often we just called them "the black panther" whether there was a creature in them or not. I had all kinds of creatures and, idk, demons, until I realized they were coming from my imagination. I still have a "black panther" occasionally when I'm really, really sleep deprived or exhausted, but there are never creatures or beings in them any more.

I knew someone that went to the FBI "Academy" to be an agent. They went to a field of real human bodies in different levels of decay so they can be familiar with what a deceased body may look like at 1 day, 2 days etc. Also, he had to see all types of drugs and he also had to taste them so he could recognize when "on the job".

I had a bout of sleep paralysis, with the typical hag. It started with her pacing at the foot of my bed, each night she got closer, then on top of me, screaming. So real I could feel her weight, her breath. It sucked because even if I knew I was dreaming, I couldn't pull myself out. I just had to wait for it to pass.
