It's a type of plant, it has a bit of a faint sugary smell to it. Me, as a Native American, I believe it's meant to be some kind of spiritual thing to ward off wendigos. The plant it's self is short and thin. You should look it up and it'll give you a clear explanation of the plant.

My Theory: The Necklace, Kaminari gave you, somehow wards off the Wendigo hence why it didn’t attack you, Deku and Todoroki. Also I bet that necklace has something to do with the hatch opening. Lastly, maybe Kaminari was trying to scare us with that cat story. To try and scare us he played a sound of a cat but instead of scaring us it led the REAL monster cat towards the Denki and the sound making the cat take Denki

Every time Deku said "Wendigo" my reflexes caused me to say in an angry whisper "Shut the FUCK up" because I've looked into Wendigos and Rule #1 was: Do NOT say its name out loud. Why? Because they have super good hearing and addressing dark shit like that by proper name is how to get it to notice you.
