The Grapevine Vintage Railroad is a 1950s locomotive pulling 1920s-era cars. They carry hundreds of curious riders each week to North Richland Hills and back to Grapevine. On weekends, the tourist train goes to the Stockyards in Fort Worth and back. We give an inside look at who rides it and why.
Ever wonder how they operate such an old train? The Tex Factor gives you an exclusive look.

No, the GP7 was NOT manufactured in 1960 as the engineer stated. They were produced from 1949 to 1954, then superseded by the GP9 through 1959, after which the GP18's and GP20's began production. The locomotive shown, GVRX 2199, began life as ATSF 2788 in March of 1953. All GP7's then were built with high hoods fore and aft of the cab. Sometime in the 1980's, she was rebuilt as a GP7u which included the new "chop nose" and the number change to 2199. Retired in the 1990's, she went to the short-lived shortline Central Kansas Railway before being acquired by the GVRX around 2003.
