I'm not a Texans fan, so I can't say for sure, but the win against the Patriots the final week of 2009 to get the first winning season feels bigger to me than some Wild Card game against the Bengals (let's be honest, beating the Bengals in a playoff game is pretty much a guarantee). That Steelers game in 2002 also because of how bizarre it was.

Considering that the Texans are only 16 years old, they’ve had some excellent players: An NFL rush champion (Arian Foster) A future HOF receiver (Andre Johnson) The NFL’s current best receiver (Deandre Hopkins) A future HOF defender (JJ Watt) Two freakishly athletic defenders (Mario Williams and Jadeveon Clowney) One of the NFL’s most exciting quarterbacks (Deshaun Watson) They’ve done okay with talent for a young franchise.

Dominic Delgado see that’s different, Watson actually has offensive weapons. Carr was thrown into an impossible situation of trying to lead a brand new franchise without being giving any kind of help. The Texans were trash all around when he played. Watson was giving a top 5 wr in the league, and a decent defense despite his atrocious OL. I mean come on, the Texans made it to the divisional round with Osweiler under center ye year before. Watson is a great QB, that’s undeniable, but Carr could’ve been great with a half decent team.
@j-ant9915
@j-ant9915 5 жыл бұрын
Dominic Delgado I don’t know why you’re talking about what Derek has done, this has nothing to do with him we were talking about David. And the simple fact is David had a significantly worse team than Watson has right now. Carr had no offensive weapons at all, no defense, as well as no offensive line. He was giving a new franchise to play with that had no star power at all. Watson has a top WR, as well as a decent defense. They made it farther with Osweiler than they have with Watson. They were a possession away from making the confrence championship game 4 years ago with Osweiler. Watson has made one playoff game and they lost. Simple fact is David never had anybody to play with.

I remember this game like it was yesterday. I had just moved away from Houston after living their for five years. Whenever I attended the Astrodome I would always see Reliant Stadium/NRG Stadium under construction. Houston wanted a pro football team badly after the Oilers turned into the Tennessee Titans. This game was a big deal to Houstonians and to the people who live in small towns outside of Houston. Texas is already obsessed with football, every other person in Texas is a Cowboys fan and now we get another pro team in Houston with, at the time, the most advanced football stadium in the NFL... you better believe this was a big deal. And with all that said I could care less about the Texans and Cowboys because I'm a Patriots fan who lives in Texas. And coincidentally the Pats won TWO Super Bowl chips in Reliant/NRG Stadium.

The last time The Texans had a good O-Line when it was Eric Winston Mike Brisiel Chris Myers Wade Smith Duane Brown That line made Shaub look GOOD and gave Foster all the blocking to run

The Cowboys (13.6) and Texans (13.3) went on to easily be the lowest scoring teams in the NFL that season. The closest team to their level of anemia was Arizona and they scored 16.1 points per game. The Cowboys and Texans combined to score 460 points in 2002, which was 7 less than the Chiefs scored themselves.

If you gave this man a line that can protect for more than 1.2 seconds then we could be talking about deep playoff runs and possibly a superbowl. No one can say he isn’t a good quarterback. He just had a bad team and bad lineman. Had to add to my comment, do you see his throws? So much velocity and perfect spirals. Idk if the video was sped up when he threw the ball, but that looked like a cannon

@Jerry Junior they actually had a lot of young talent that year. As you could see, they had a talented defense that finished 8th overall. They just had bad to mediocre qb play. Parcells found a way to remotivate Larry Allen and got the best out of Carter and they won 10 games.

Yeah, but quincy carter wasn’t that good a QB at the time parcells took over and when they made the playoffs, they were the worst playoff team

@@sports3117 both they and Seattle were 10-6. Dallas was the 6th seed by a tie breaker. Point is, by 2002 the team was actually quite improved. The defense had improved a lot since 2000 when they were awful. If they had decent qb play, they couldve won more games. They blew a bunch of winnable games due to just bad qb play.

David Carr might have been something if he wasn't being sent out to be sacrificed early in his career. I think the Panthers and Jaguars have been the only expansion teams that weren't terrible right out the gate.
