Got to see this in 2002 while visiting family in Lubbock. Unique piece of art. Greetings from Germany!

I drive there about once a year. The house this one faces is interesting as well and I believe Bruno designed it too.

Thanks for this update. I got to tour this around 1980 with Bruno and Dr. Lockhart's art class. I remember he was working on custom curved furniture in exotic wood and designing a stain glass elevator in one of those legs. I would love info on renting it. Bruno was part of my husband's architecture education at Tech and we spent time a Lake Ransome as college kids.

It looks like a digital SLR camera. I’ve seen exterior photos of the house but never the inside. What an amazing place.

We found this house when moving our daughter from northern California to Texas Tech, loved it at first site.

Well, if your one of "those" Californians leave your politics at the door. In my lifetime I've seen your type destroy Washington and Oregon. Seem to be working on Idaho and Arizona. Now your moving to Texas and Florida. If you are those type stay in your own hellhole and lie in the bed you made.

We used to run around in that house back in the 80s. I can tell you that the long-term residents of Ransom Canyon pretty much hated this place as it sat unfinished for so long. There is also a very unique house right across the street from it.

It's been a dream of a close friend of mine to own this house one day. I wouldn't mind renting it to stay in for a weekend. I've always liked it.

Back in the 1970s I lived in Lubbock and took my wife and kids there, the house did not have windows back then and one could walk in and check it out.

The companion piece that marked the next corner spent years off MLK Blvd near KRFE studios until brought to rest in Texas Tech campus at 18th and Flint, iconic sculptures that made bicycling the Ransom Canyon a priceless practice , Peace3ed

There are some talented researchers in the math department at Texas Tech that should do a topological study on the house for a neat project. George Gray in the TTU Mechanical Engineering department does lots of metal artwork as well, not sure if he exhibits it.

Absolute piece of art but surrounded by mundane soulless houses. If I had money I would buy the whole area and invite artists to tear down those ugly houses and make their own versions of similar looking houses as The Bruno House.
@atexaninkorea17732 жыл бұрын
I always wondered why that dude never really finished the house and left it derelict for most of its history. I hope the new owner does something good with it like make it a coffee shop or wine bar.

I grew up in Ransom Canyon and spent my childhood years climbing the cliff right under the Metal Monster as it was named in the late 70s ,my best friend lived a block away n i lived on w lakeshore directly under it. Its in Ransom Canyon tx not Lubbock. Ransom is its own city... 79366 oh beautiful canyon got married at ransom chapel last yr wish i could afford to live out there still. If anyone wants to know anything im more than willing to tell stories about it and how it got its name. The Canyon that is.
