We took a drive up to Angleton to see the sights of history and appreciate a gigantic statue of the Father of Texas, Stephen F. Austin.

Having known Jimmy Glover for many, many years, I can attest that he is a very knowledgeable and wonderful historian. He makes visiting the statue fun and entertaining.

If not for Stephen F. Austin, Texas, as we know it today might not exist. My 3rd G.G. Father John Foster and his sons, Randolph and Isaac were a part of Austin's (Old 300 Colonist). Randolph was Stephen F. Austin's Lead Scout and friend. John later established the Foster community school in Foster, TX. and the Foster High School in Fort Bend County, TX. was named after him and his son Randolph including a historical marker. Stephen F. Austin and Randolph Foster are in an Oil Painting by Henry McArdle which hangs in the Texas State Capitol in Austin, TX.

Idk if this would be on my bucket list. I live in bay city, used to live in clute, drove past this statue daily. A bucket list location would be gernimo creek hideaways. Its best to reserve a cabin during the cooler seasons ($76/night vs $480/night)

Shane -- if you get the inclination--check out the legacy of John (Jack) Coffee Hays--You may find him to be a rather interesting character-- I think that Hays county is named after him Just Saysing

Yep, just a matter of time that they will try to pull it down (along with Sam), they will NOT succeed as Texans will gather around to protect our founders.... present company included.
