I'm in Odessa a couple of times a year to see family and had no idea about this. An interesting note about the guy that donated the stone (Connie Edwards) also had been a pilot for and ended up with a lot of the aircraft from the 1960's movie The Battle of Britain...that he kept at his castle. Another sight seeing attraction in Odessa is a meteor crater.
