This is the best published dissertation I have ever seen! I have reread parts over and over. There is so much to learn from this excellent study, if you are interested in a close reading of Galatians.

Doing my own personal translations I've had times when updating that during cross referencing a translation on my left to write on my fresh sheet on the right that left side page had a word or phrase that was similar or identical to the word or phrase on the line above or below, and either rewrite a line catching it in the Middle or omit a line entirely. Ive also skipped a word or phrase although that's rare. The weird thing is I'm super attentive when doing this and read aloud from the left before writing and repeat it as I write it, and it still occurs. That method is how I personally discovered "second hands"or editors, btw, for anyone interested in getting a feel for that.

The Hagar & Sarah allegory isn't about "freedom" and "slavery," it's about Christianity and Judaism. 24:45

Chapter 4 verse 25 seems to indicate that the letter was written after AD70. I wonder what the author thinks.

I don't know Greek outside of a small vocabulary, but if the English translations are dependable, it seems Galatians 4:25 to me makes sense. It also seems the point is being missed by most. Hagar is required for the argument to work with the rest of the epistle. If Hagar is not present there is the idea Paul is making this a Torah vs. No Torah keeping argument which is contrary to every point he makes from chapter 2 to he end. His issue is about if salvation comes through promise and faith and belief, or if you are working your way to righteousness. What he's doing with Hagar vs Sarah with the covenants is pointing out that in the Abrahamic story God provided the promise on his time, whereas Abraham and Sarah knew they had the promise and tried to work their way into it by their own deeds, which would parallel the new converts thinking they needed to circumcise themselves before salvation can come into fruition. The Law grants righteousness if you keep "all" of it. Explicit in the OT. Nobody had in Paul's view, and it was to teach you not only what was right and wrong but that your works wouldn't attain you that righteousness. The new covenant has the Torah written in your hearts, by YHVH. Not your works. You don't have to earn it. This is Sarah, the heavenly Jerusalem and we are sons of Isaac to Paul. Does this promise to Abraham nullify the law after according to Paul? No. See above. Does this new covenant then nullify the law, the old? Paul doesn't say explicitly. He expects you to draw the inference as he mentioned in relation to the promise that a covenant that comes after does not annul the covenant beforehand. So therefore, the new covenant doesn't nullify the Torah. Hagar is required. If Paul didn't write that, which I assume he did, then Hagar was added rightly. I suspect it served as a negative jab also with the ishmaelite tie, but that's secondary and not necessary... Hebrew pun work. Went on a pro Torah rant in the middle of that. My bad lol, but I feel like that's necessary in almost every Pauline conversation.

Dear Self Thinkers, The law was ONLY given to old covenant Israel and has not existed for nearly two thousand years. Moses was never your mediator. You have never transgressed the law. You were never a slave to the law or freed from it. It was never your "guardian". You were never under its curse. You were not redeemed from the curse of the law. You're welcome.
