The most under appreciated musical genius of his era. Miss these visceral lyrics and music.
@lanky10664 жыл бұрын
Because he says it as it is, and kept out of the mainstream record companies and merchandise is his own a very wise man and his music has helped me out of a few low times in my life since the early 80s. And one of Matt's famous quotes: for every kick in the face and hurdle you pass.. the rewards get greater. So true.

Really, really special. Probably because he took time away & stayed honest to himself. That's what keeps it so fresh. One of the few who just refused to keep churning out songs like a factory. Then we all get something this delicious!

Even in the lush musical landscape of the '80s this band stood out. Rarely on the radio, but everyone knew their songs. I'm so glad The The has brought their rich, poetic sound forward, relavant to this time. It may be the beginning of another new wave of phenomenal music!

Just saw the film, and love this new song by The The---I wish he'd been able to make a whole new CD of original songs, but he said it took him 6 months just to write that particular song. So I'm just glad he was able to get this one out---It's beautiful and soulful,too.

Brilliant. Mr. Johnson is one of the most prolific artists of modern times. The Gold Standard.
@galetinm Жыл бұрын
Gold Standard?! Are you serious?! Do you even know what prolific means? The Smiths were prolific during those 5-6 years they were active, The Beatles during their years. Fresh example is King Gizzard... releasing several albums a year. It means that he writes a lot of songs continually. Creatively fruitful. He's not prolific. He didn't release anything for 15 or so years before this single. He even talks at the start of this video how he isn't prolific. And you got 8 likes for that, too funny.

So here you live Trapped inside the days Your pen moving across the page Back to where, It has begun Uncoiled, unspun What you were, what you will become The days, setting with the sun Wake up it's time to go The taste of tears still in your throat Silence from your songs Reminds us, when you are gone We can't hate the river for flowing Can't blame the wild wind blowing Can't slow time from running We can't stop what's coming The Bonfire is burning The birds returning An owl by night A mourning crow Indide a Shadow that grows A darkness in the darkness A stranger on the shore Outside of your window Knocking on your door When there is rain that pours 'Til there is pain, no more Wake up it's time to go The taste of tears still in your throat Silence from your songs Reminds us, when you are gone We can't hate the river for flowing Can't blame the wild wind blowing Can't slow time from running We can't stop what's coming
