Community Note: So this episode was supposed to be out awhile ago but I was admitted to the hospital mid-November for a diverticular disease, so things didn't go as planned this month to say the least. I'm still planning on the big Gary project & non-RS video essay, just going to be a bit behind schedule while I recover. But I'm stoked I was able to finish this episode up the last few days, hope you guys enjoy the little experimental stuff throughout. Thank you for the unreal support with this series and everything else, I'm so grateful for you all. Take it easy & see you soon!

which is still fucking nuts because it's aboslute coincidence, how the fuck was anyone suppose to know to bring poison for that without a guide?
@gooblop Жыл бұрын
@@Edzter They relied on the fact that the internet exists and Runescape requires it. You can say it's "coincidence", but they knew the bis weapon had poison when designing the quest. They would have known the players would quickly figure it out and they would have known the players would instantly be spreading that information. They could have referenced it in a lore book, but lets be honest, 99% of players would have still found out by word of mouth.

@@Edzter There is actually a hidden clue, I can't believe people are struggling to find it. Right before the Verzik battle, there's a spiral staircase to the North West which takes you down to a small science lab with fancy tubes and cages. The 1st Person POV sequences, the stereo audio that you had to do to make them feel so good to watch, the map zoom transitions between quests, even the flashback cutscenes while doing the theatre and revealing lore, all of it was so smooth to watch. this is definitely the best By Release episode as far as just layers of quality that you’ve ever put out, absolutely phenomenal. Glad you recovered J-money. Your series is one of the best narrative driven pieces based on a game out there. I like the fact that you want the gameplay to be self explanatory or to have reasons why you should be doing something. Its really representative of the average player, not the sweaty tryhards. The purple spider is a great example of bad game design or at least bad conveyance. If the game doesnt tell you you need to do something, how would you know to do it? If the game doesnt tell you, its all up to either try everything or just assume it sucks and move on.

For the poison on the purple spider, it's a very subtle detail: You get the eggs using the sulphuric acid on the egg sack, and those are the eggs Verzik uses to make the purple spiders (as per cut scene after obtaining the spiders). However, when you get the spider eggs, you get a Sticky Note, which specifically mentions "the sisterhood might have used venom from these spiders to make their elixir". Now, that's more pointing toward them perhaps having poisoning capabilities rather than weakness to human poison/venom imo, but it's at least a concrete connection. Alternatively, since you know the sulphuric acid is needed to get through to their eggs, potentially something else caustic (like poison, though that's some pretty bad chemistry imo lol) will weaken them. But yeah, afaik that's the only lore link to purple spiders and poison. I think it makes a bit more sense to conclude that if their blood is used to heal verzik, then if you poison them, verzik will stop siphoning from them to not get poisoned herself, but regardless, there is a connection.
