I have loved British Sitcoms since 1961 and this is in My Top 5 or 6 but still behind the brilliance of Yes,Minister and Yes,Prime Minister which were written by "insiders" and it shows :)

The Thick of It was several years before Parks and Recreation but you’re right, there is a similar feel. It’s not laugh a minute but if you know the British political system you can appreciate how realistic a lot of it is. Series 1 is good, Series 2 and 3 are brilliant.

We Brits have the idea that U.S audiences don't understand satire ,glad to see you destroy that myth ,IN THE LOOP is spin off of this show , Chris Langham was dropped after first series when passed sex offences came to light. Always well written Peter Capaldi is brilliant as Malcolm who is based on Blair's spin doctor , when REBECCA FRONT joins the cast it gets even better .

This first series is from 2005 and it would be out of date anyway, but it's now pretty timid. The crazy stuff that happens in real UK politics is far more absurd than anything in this show.

It was only 3 episodes because it was made when the BBC4 digital channel launched, so they were funding new shoes to put on that. They had a limited amount of money and said the creator (Armando Ianucci, who created/wrote Alan Partridge, Veep etc) "what can you do with this much money" and he said "probably 3 half hour episodes." So it was three episodes, and so was the 2nd season as they just asked him to do the same again.

Well, Chris Langham is a great comic actor. He was caught with disturbing videos. It doesn't necessarily make him a paedophile. Besides, don't let the the unsavory actions of Chris stop you from appreciating his work. It was a long tone ago. It's not like he raped anybody.
