A thing we’ve used to help with the grass wrapping around the PTO is attaching a mud flap to the bottom of the tractor where the PTO attaches. It drags across the grass and lays it down enough to avoid coming in contact with the PTO. Hope this helps if you try it!

TIM from Canada when you were cutting hay and you were finding that it is wrapping up on your PTO... invest in a battery powered... hedge trimmer this way it will help you out to clip out the grass from your PTO... if the hedge trimmer will cut through a tough branch it will be no problem with grass you can get this in battery powered Milwaukee Dewalt Makita pretty much anything... most people usually stick with what they have whatever batteries you were using this is the brand you use Dewalt or Milwaukee.. or whatever you can find on sale but this will help you in the long run when the grass is running around your PTO....

If I round baled on level ground, I would have to go find a hill to dump it out. It just wouldn’t feel natural. Lol I have ran a new Holland 615. 7 foot disc mower for twenty years. This year I upgraded to a 10 foot disc. I wanted a moco but couldn’t afford the extra cost since I also needed a tedder this year also. People don’t understand the hard work snd dedication it takes to make hay happen. It’s a major undertaking

Yeah same here, but I've "borrowed" good ideas off new equipment and engineered it into my own older machinery by modifying it similarly... @@someperson7 but you're driving over grass that's already been mowed, so that is not a problem
@someperson73 жыл бұрын
@@Bartjebart2 Is there no scenario you would drive directly in front of the mower, or is it always offset?
@Bartjebart23 жыл бұрын
@@someperson7 pretty much always offset. Except maybe when opening a field, but that's what Trevor did. The problem came from cut hay that was still somewhat standing upright in the windrow.
@lukestrawwalker3 жыл бұрын
@@Bartjebart2 The going back and forth puts the hay that is partially still standing at an angle, pointing TOWARD the tractor rather than away from it, so on the return pass if it hits anything underneath the tractor, like the drawbar frame, it goes up and over it, which pushes it right up into the PTO. Need a flap in there to push the hay over the other way and if it DOES push up it pushes the mudflap up against the bottom of the tractor until it slides on by as the tractor passes over, too far away to get wrapped in the PTO. Later! OL J R :)

From personal experience a heavy rubber mud flap or equivalent works good to prevent PTO wrapping. Its a pain sometimes and amazing how tight it will wrap lol
