I think it's safe to say that the Thing survives regardless of whether Mack or Chiles are infected. It laid frozen for who knows how long when the Norwegians found it, so its cells are still alive. Bleak but the paranoia of the movie is incredible.

I thought I was the only one to confuse Jeff Bridges and Kurt Russell!!! 🤣

There are two main ways to learn to fear your own body: 1. Watch John Carpenter's The Thing. 2. Get older.

third main way is to watch David Cronenberg's films

If you can do Disney movies, you could go back and watch young Kurt Russell in his "Dexter Riley", though they are mostly middling. If you want to try one, the middle one, Now You See Him, Now You Don't, is probably the best.

You dudes should checkout 'Starman'. It's a very different type of film from John Carpenter.

Still the best Horror movie ever, scares the hell out of you and leaves you wondering. There was going to be a sequel based in the 90s, there's a couple podcasts and old scripts online about it and it sounds great.

Speaking of john Carpenter movies, his movie vampires would be a good one.

The Thing is the best horror movie of all time as far as I'm concerned. Dawn of the Dead og a close second.

Appreciate the shoutout to Annihilation; probably my favorite sci-fi horror film. Alternate metaphorical interpretations for The Thing that I’ve heard: - an exploration of toxic masculinity (everyone’s policing each other’s behavior; being vulnerable around other men is dangerous) - a metaphor for the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s (a community of men who can’t rely on the wider world to help them; you can’t tell who is and isn’t safe to spend alone-time with)
