As desperate as we are to hold on to Marilyn, something about this feels wrong. She was an intensely private person who probably reluctantly had to come to terms with the fact that she belonged to world but some things should remain private and handled with the utmost care. Seeing them run through her things without gloves and care feels so intrusive and disrespectful to her. I was born more than 30 years after her death, never knew her of course yet I feel this intense protection over her. I truly hope sweet Norma Jean is at peace and happy, it's the very least that Angel deserves

She lived on ups and downs, just as Judy Garland did. Probably accidental drug over dose. That has happened to many celebrities, mixing drugs that should never be mixed at all. Some cough medications shouldn't be mixed with other drugs. She wasnt a happy woman, everyone wanted a piece of her....even now.

She was too beautiful for her own good both inside and out plus she was also as I heard extremely bright. She told some Hollywood bigwig that she liked the great composer beethoven and they laughed at her. She was a tragic goddess Pure a d innocent taken advantage of by lowlife:creeps because of her great beauty

It's sweet that Marilyn lived humbly in a modest bungalow & left items of very little intrinsic value. Liz Taylor etc had diamonds & gems but Marilyn's jewellery was usually costume. I believe she had one valuable, real pearl choker by 'Mikimoto' that she was gifted by Di Maggio on their honeymoon in Japan, & she gave that away! She had a magical beauty and charisma - priceless gems would be wasted on her really, because she sparkled far brighter!

She left her personal items to Lee Strasberg, " to be dispersed to my friends as he sees fit. " Instead he hoarded them, and his second wife, who inherited it all upon his death, sold it all at auction raising millions for her personal benefit.

She was Joe Dimaggio's wife, He still loved her and I would expect a good (even x) husband to take her most personal things out of view. And gently I must say It really isn't anyone's business. She was exploited in all sorts of ways and it continues to this day. Very sad.

Jackelbrash Surely there must be a museum of some kind in Hollywood displaying such iconic possessions, not only of Marilyn but also of other famous film stars who have passed on. After all, there is clearly still a public interest in these stars and the lives they led, even in some cases many decades later.
