Im a Singaporean and almost 40 years old. I was at the crossroads when gum was widely available and then it got banned. I never missed it because i hated touching the gum left by people on elevator buttons or on seats. Sometimes some tourists make a big deal about this ban on gum but honestly, good riddance. It is definitely something we dont need here. Thank you for making it clear that it isnt illegal to chew gum but rather just to sell gum. Some tourist think we are so uptight when we don't allow chewing of gum LOL
@Slla-th5vtАй бұрын
At the end of the day, candy and chocolates taste better than gum anyway.

Interesting to hear! Yeah I also thought it was illegal until I spoke with some locals and did some digging. I thought I’d try to set the record straight. Thanks for watching!

The Hawker Chan's stall (original) is actually just on the opposite street at the Chinatown Complex - Singapore's largest hawker centre! Food stalls are located at the building's second floor, basement is the wet market. A lot of tourists somehow missed this hawker centre, literally passes it and walk to Maxwell or other food stalls instead. I wonder why LOL. That shop you ate at is their air-conditioned branch after they expanded due to the star it gotten. Over at the hawker centre there will be long queue before the stall opens.

Oh really? I actually went on there and looked around but didn’t use any of the footage. Thanks for the info though! Too bad I didn’t see the original stall…

The vehicular entrance to Raffles Hotel is Beach Road and that where the beach used to be. The shoreline is now 2.5 km due to land reclamation. Also due to land reclamation, Singapore is now 25% bigger than it was originally was. The 9% isn’t gratuity. That’s the Goods and Services Tax (GST) or sales tax. The gratuity is a service charge of 10% which is also already added. If the service is very bad, you can supposedly decline to pay it but that rarely happens.

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple has 5 stories and a basement: 1. Ground Floor: A prayer hall with a large Maitreya Buddha statue 2. Second Floor (mezzanine): A library for studying Buddhist teachings. 3. Third Floor: A museum displaying Buddhist relics and artifacts. 4. Fourth Floor: The sacred Buddha Tooth Relic is housed here in a golden stupa. 5. Rooftop: Features a pagoda, garden, and prayer wheel. 6. Basement: canteen serving vegetarian meals. The temple is both a religious site and a cultural attraction.

Singapore looks like any other cities in the U.S. I would say cities like Los Angeles or San Fransisco are slightly more modern and cleaner. I wouldn't waste my money flying over there and seeing the same thing in Asia.

Every country is unique. If you expect all countries in Asia to have the same vibes, then make a point to visit just one to save your time and money. You don’t live there so you need not fret so much over what that doesn’t appeal to you.
