There was a grocer across the street from my grandmother who told me if my father wanted cigarettes to come get them himself,a rare thing in the '60's.

We had a Burger Chef in the town I grew up in. It was a real treat to get food there. After they closed it was rumored that they used horse meat without telling customers. I doubt it, but it was a running joke back in the day.

The scene at 1:51 reminded me of every housewife’s passion…Green Stamps. These were stamps that were given out depending on the amount of your purchase by the retailers in grocery stores, gas stations, drug stores, etc. The stamps were then glued into books(using the same glue method as postage stamps) and then could be redeemed for products and gifts. Being the oldest child in the family guess who got to stick the stamps in the books? 🤢

I remember in the early 90's it started to get hard to buy smokes as a minor. Most stores started to card. Only the mom/pop shops that new you would sell to you. Vending machines became clutch in them times. Even schools started to ban smoking on premise. In mine you had to get a note from your parent saying you were allowed to smoke. A forged note worked fine but even that ended shortly. Then McDondons removed their ash trays and even higher end restaurants started going no smoking. Diners were the hold outs. But the time it got really restrictive I was an adult.

I am in my early 70's so this was a real trip down memory lane for me. My brother and I had so much fun with our Tinker Toys. Most of our toys required no batteries and were made of metal or wood, not plastic. I always thought Burger Chef had better burgers than McDonalds, guess I was wrong with Burger Chef gone and McDonalds still around. I look forward to seeing more of these videos.👍

Let's not forget labor unions, good affordable housing, living in the same neighborhood as your boss, college you could pay for with a part time job, being able to have kids without having to worry about going bankrupt, antitrust laws, competent political leadership and a general hope for the future. Thank you boomers. You had the door opened up for you and then immediately closed it.
