The animating is really good, but one almost critical part is missing. Lighting. An SFM video without lighting just doesn't work as well as a one that has it.

sometimes i think lighting is overused like Instagram filters these days. It makes it better but I dont think its always necessary

It's the presentation that matters, not the lightning. As long as the story is conveyed in an enjoyable matter, you do not need anything else. After all, lighning is just a storytelling tool. As for the bad custom lightning, the old saying goes, "Know your strengths and know your limits." If you know what you can't do, you can mask that with something you can do in order to make it less noticable. Fun fact: Mario was originally designed solely to help mask the then-technical limitations of the time: The hat, to save resources when it comes to animating hair. The moustache, to make his mouth more noticable. The overalls, to make it easier to see him walking. In the case of your video, it was through the usage of good storytelling: showing that the Scout was thirsty, making the story accesaable to those who don't know about the Sniper's Jarate through a quick gag and best of all, good pacing. The point of stories is to help us immerse. This is done through effective communication, not through perfection as what many seem to believe.

One more thing, the ending has scout buying the car an jarate, and drives the car into the pit, if you look closely at the driver youll see the driver jump out, the driver was scout, pause for a better view, you cant see the driver anymore the second he drives the car into the pit, so that's the ending, scout buys all the jarate, car too, drives the car into a pit, then before it falls he jumps out and holds on to the bridge.
