I was looking for non-symphonic performance and I'm amazed I found you Thirteen. I love it, I cry, my ears burst with delight.

Magnificent. Demonstrates the purity and clarity of sound that can be achieved with a smaller number of top-notch singers.

Thank you John for your message of hope. Sadly my father has just passed on. I performed this piece about 23 years ago and can still remember the bass line. It does bring me peace and comfort. Even though he was not a fan of the organ or loud sopranos I know now Dad is with the Saints in heaven.

I’ve always maintained that this needs no other instrument than a good pipe organ and this definitely furthers that belief.

Agreed. The full orchestra version often drowns out the beauty of the vocals. I would love to find a version with just singers and a string quartet doing a pared down arrangement.

Thank you for a very wonderful performance. In Durufle, the organ has a very critical role, imparting a dynamic kaleidoscopic array of colors and enabling the vocal ensemble to voice varied and distinct soundscapes. Filsell's playing was magnificent and distinct. The 13 were excellent and conventionally very pleasing.

This is truly a fantastic rendering of the Durufle Requiem. How thirteen voices produce such powerful sounds is amazing. The organist is an exceptional artist. Mr. Chu in the Libera me was fantastic. However, the other two soloist I found disappointing. Overall, I doubt there is another performance that can top this one.

As to the comment of "jaw-jacking," that is the most excellent way of creating the great voal that you've heard. Think of joining a choral ensembe, where you could have a fun and educational time.

Beautifully sung. I thought the organ was a little heavy for the number of singers, but the Durufle went very well otherwise. I was especially impressed by the choir's mastery of that terrifically difficult cantata by Poulenc. I know from personal experience how hard it is to get all 12 parts (one voice per part!) to work together. This was thrilling. If I had any suggestion, I would have liked more rhythmic intensity and flexibility. There was a sameness in the performance of both works that caused my attention to flag at times. Nonetheless, thank you so much for such music-making!

They are certainly downplaying the famous final chord. I think the strangeness should be clearly heard. Man’s inability to comprehend the eternal.
