A lively and highly entertaining version of this classic adventure story. For my money this adaptation is way better than the BBC TV version from a few years later... it's also notable for being followed by adaptations of Hannay's other (but less well-known) adventures, also starring David Robb.

He's great - and in quite a lot of stuff on this channel - I've got all of his Hannays, but also his 'Lost World' (he's an atypical Challenger, but a good one) and his Patrick O'Brien adaptations...

It’s not John Buchan’s 39 Steps - it’s an adaptation of Hitchcock’s version.

@@leonardodavinci8364 Wryly acknowledging details from the Hitchcock version is not the same thing as basing one's adaptation on it and it sounds like you only listened as far as the Mr Memory scene before drawing your conclusion. Had this play adapted Hitchcock's script it would have been legally obliged to credit the fact - they don't. By contrast the BBC radio adaptation of Spellbound from a few years later absolutely *does* credit the film adaptation for inspiration.
