I am starting on Ep. 3 and I already have my theory as to what happened. I am beginning to think she suffered from MPD it is what happens to the brain to help cope with childhood traumas. Like I said it’s just my thoughts. I have not met James character yet. I have to say living during those times must have been horrific! Especially during childhood. Even for the rich and the poor. Humans cope with learning to survive in different ways, and my opinion on the lifestyles and way of life in the past was learning how to survive.

To me watch Alias Grace was like shorter dark "version" of Anne with an E, a young lady with a horrendous past, a bf with dark hair, lover of animals and flowers and the object of desire of the "good boy" hahaha I really enjoy this serie.

Watching Anne was more fun for me, although I was sad for her most of the time, the exact opposite when I watched Grace's series all the time I was waiting and I had no idea about Grace's character and I could not identify my feelings towards her until the last events when I realized that the series was based on a real story.

@@eva8595 its ok lol. I havent seen the netoflix version but in the book in after several years of being in jail she becomes the house mistress for the prisin warden and his family and they come to like her very much and the warden gets her a judicial pardon and she is released from jail but her case is still much talked about in the public and the media and the warden was afraid she wont be able to live a normal quiet life and that the press will always follow her around and there will be prejuduce towards her from ppl so he arranged for her to start over in boston and work for a wealthy businessman there in his house as a house keeper. Eventually the businessman marries her and thats the end. Not much is known about her and im not sure if the writer of the book fabricated sime of what was written but the name of the book is Alias Grace and i cant remember the arthur

@@chowmarina008 wouh, it is really different from the netflix version, sounds much more relaxing and do justice to Grace at least. I dont really like the ending in the netflix, she was married to a guy that she was once working with in the Nancy and Thomas house. And in the end the husbands seems to enjoying listenning to Grace sorrow while she in the asylum. I pity her, WHY DOES everyone around her like to take an opportunity upon her innocent. Thank you for responding btw :)

please can someone help. I am watching this and loving it, however, I feel I have seen it before. I read the book about 10 years ago and loved it as I love all Margaret Atwood's books. I just can't shake off the feeling that I have actually seen this film before. Does anyone know if a film based on this story has been made before. When I google I can only find reference to Margaret Atwood. Am I going mad ? I know I have watched this film before.

Margaret atwood also wrote a film called the servant girl, which is supposed to be about Grace as well

It reminded me of the Lizzy Bordon case, the murder and mystery surrounding it. Maybe you felt the same?

While I know not of a film made about the case, I do no that there is a Netflix series called 'Alias Grace' about it. As far as I'm aware, it can also be found on KZbin and other sites alike. Hope this helps, although I know it's a bit late.

It’s super interesting to watch all the clinical psychologists comments. Except they’re not likely any more educated than the rest of us here 😬 Bottom line, everyone in this story is long dead so it’s all speculation, Atwood did a fantastic job of not only capitalizing on that, but also bringing Canadian history into light.
