Met muzammil yesterday at Bohemia's concert in Pakfest22 Lahore. I tapped him and greeted him, told him that I'm literally binge watching his videos and he thanked me for following plus he answered all my Qs even though he was with his friends and he asked me about my university and told me that he went to the same university (Forman Christian College University Lahore). He was very humble, very lovely and warm personality. Indeed a great intellect and human being.

I am an Indian and watch muzammil very keenly and regularly . He is a priceless asset for the youth of all developing societies which survive and progress on thinking and innovations . The day such intellectual debates stops in such societies and the political debates take their place, the decay starts ! All the so called established anchors of Pakistan/ India call representatives of different political parties, engage them in cockfighting , watch them and show ends . Some theatrics during the show and communication skills, personality of anchor decides the TRP or so called popularity . More the advertisement, moe revenue and more refining of these telecasting techniques ! Take example of PMLN, PPP, PTI and few other, their entire ideology , thought, plans can be explained in two or maximum of a dozen programs ! But their reps are called for years and years and their wisdom is thrusted on viewers ! What they have to offer ? Very sorry state of affairs indeed . In these circumstances Muzammil, Parvez Hoodbhy, Taimur Rehman and few others provide a voice of sanity ! Hence I call him priceless . Detoxification of the minds from this viral attack of mass media is essential .

That’s exactly what is wrong with this guy. He knew he has to get power before he can bring in “reforms” but he said Imran Khan just wanted power for power sake. Arey bhai, Imran wanted Power to change the system and he thought being the Prime Minister of Pakistan will give him that power. But he realised that Military establishment can’t be shook and he even accepted it publicly. And now he is saying he will again run for the power with a bigger support so that possibly he has finally have enough power to make Military bend knees to the Nation. What’s wrong with that? Muzammil is like Indian far left liberal which is a good thing for Pakistani politics but his ideas only sound good, when they do, in Pakistani context. His philosophy isn’t universally applicable.

From a resident of Bangalore, India. Every talk, every chat, every video of Syed Muzammil Shah is gripping, captivating, scintillating, exhilarating, thought provoking, so much of knowledge sharing by him. Every video of his on any platform with anyone is absolutely mind boggling. He is such a rational thinker, so terrifyingly outspoken. So awesomely well read. I search for his videos on KZbin by his name everyday and watch atleast one everyday, regardless of the platform, including his own KZbin channel which he runs on his own name. He simply is a spectacular genius of Pakistan. If he has 10,000 videos on KZbin, I intend to watch all, one by one, each one.😊😊😊

So I was not listening to this one again because Syed Muzammil Shah, his content is not my cup of tea and I think for several reasons I have many disagreements with him. But I still watched it, complete till the end. Because it captivated me after sometime. I see where he is coming from, I understand why he is giving such opinions, where he got these thoughts from and being logical with everything. Now I still have my disagreements with him and I think they will remain there. My most major disagreement is with the rigidity of his opinion's nature. With such negativity and rigidness, like he said all 8 billion people are different, how with such rigidity you expect them to move forward together. Pakistan specially in such times don't need this negativity, but I appreciate his rationale and intention to be logical. I congratulate the host and guest both on conducting such a beautiful debate, Enjoyed it, learned from it.

Actually he wasn't able to answer what tbt guy was asking, all he said was Ayub did this Zia did this. Yes we all agree Zia brought that extreme religious perspective and fed it to masses through Madrissas. Wouldn't mainstreaming the Madrissas and making that intellectual community read and teach the religion solve that issue? If you think we shouldn't bring the intellectual brains of the society, which actually is predominantly religious community, in teaching the religion or atleast doing some sort research in this then wouldn't we be giving space to brain dead molvis to ruin this for our coming generation and allow them to make more TLP like extremist goons? Exactly what Khan been trying to say? This podcast has been great but he failed miserably to defend his bias against single national curriculum.

@@muhammadazhar308 Arn't you contradicting yourself? Are you not agreeing that in Ayub and Zia time the state took responsibility of disseminate the religion and it turned out horrible? How exactly doing the same thing and mainstreaming would be better? What intellectual community you are talking about? Madrissas? But didn't you confirm that Madrissas did more harm? People choose Madrissa because they don't have money to go to better schools. So it's not about mainstreaming the Madrissas but the other way round. We instead need modern education. You wrote about TLP that's precisely what Madrissas did, how on earth you would correct it by going back to it? And please read more about how SNC was executed, there were so many violations, here are a few: - 18th amendment don't even allow Federal to dictate or push SNC down the throat of masses. So first they should kill 18th amendment. For PTI this is just a show, to fool people. If they are really sincere, go ahead and kill 18th amendment. - Article 22, everyone has a right to study their own religion. No educational institute can push a religion down ones throat that they don't follow. - In SNC, even in English and Urdu books they have added chapters on Islamic education. This is a complete violation. - Mullah were invited to even regulate Biology books. The same brain-dead molvis were handed charge to ruin science as well.

For everyone else this ideology is the worst thing in the world since the guy with the chaplin moustache who liked putting people into brick kilns You will keep wondering why people don't like you, when the rest of the world is busy figuring out how to solve this problem without resorting to the same moral standard that muslims have resorted to throughout history. Syed Muzammil shah has revolutionary and enlightened ideas that I feel are inevitable and current need of time to bring change in Pakistan. On the other side, Muzammil Hassan's opinions depict that he wished for transformation by continuing with the existing system and his views are reformist in nature. I sense we need a grand transition in our political system to get the desired result. One most prominent reform is to place the power and mandate in one place because I feel it is the biggest hindrance to the development of Pakistan.

In my opinion, Muzammil (host) did well and raised some good counter arguments especially the one where you become a part of an ill managed system and work within to change since that's the best shot one can have. Plus the one about education whether it should be secularised or not? Muzammil (host) was spot on there while the guest skipped it rather intentionally. Muzammil (host) might not have been that fluent and also didn't use fancy quotes and political science jargons since he's not a pol. Science student but what he said made real sense. Muzammil (guest) had fluency and had relatively better historical knowledge but we can't give an argument weight only if it's fancy and presented better though it lacks substance. Muzammil (host) did a great job.

Un-learning the dogma we've grown to believe and to re-learn the past is a painful journey...but the fact that we're talking about it is awesome. Thank you for a wonderful podcast! Hassan did a great job in posing the centrist views that a lot of "politically silent" Pakistanis hold but Shah's poignant replies were amazing especially the rebuttal that the hegemony of the state over religion is simply wrong and it is an injustice to religion itself! Being a Muslim does not mean to jump your interpretation down someone else's throat. The Prophet SAW is the only personality who we cannot have a difference of opinion with but can with anyone else...hence the space for interpretation was left open by his own Sunnah. Perhaps if we humanize the Prophet SAW and see that his actual mission was just to give Allah's message and tell humanity that there is indeed a life after this one, maybe then we can understand that politics has no religion, it is simply a human necessity that has evolved over the centuries from monarchies to democracy in order to provide order to the masses who would otherwise kill each other.

My Pashto compels me to stay true to my roots and continue dragging centuries old codes of life. My Urdu compels me to sacrifice myself and act in accordance to whats best for my country. My English enables me to see a vivid picture of this failed state and indicates an escape from Pakistan.
