The majority of middle aged & elderly guests that come on this podcast are used to being interviewed about and giving their opinion on “how we got here” . Somewhat reminds me of the saying “opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one”. Seldomly do they give us the golden nuggets and critically thought out / executable roadmaps that will get Pakistan out of its current state. I commend Muzammils consistent push to cut through the fluff during these interviews and gently squeeze out possible solutions from his guests. Hoping these talks continue and through dialogue we can weave together a workable solution for a temporarily disfunctional country 🇵🇰

@muzamil : Kudos for having such a thoughtful discussion with such a prestigious scholar. We need more and more academic discussion like this to pave the way forward for future of pakistan. Salam Haris, in the context of what you stated what are your view on equity investents which are strongly considered Islamic (subject to conditions). These equity participations are denominated in fiat currencies, are linked to limited liability companies (where managers wouldn't lose more than the equity) and are generally beneficiaries of market liquidity related factors to generate returns for investors. How are these any more Shariah Compliant than traditional bank financing for real underlying transaction between real parties ie a producer and a seller. Appreciate your thoughts.

Brilliant. This is what I was trying to say people around me. You cannot cleanse things using unclean water. Similarly, money must be purified from the distortions caused by inflation due to excessive money supply. Banks must halt the practice of creating money out of thin air. Any financial instrument based on fiat currency and a banking system that creates money cannot truly be Sharia-comliant.
