MASN overhaul is a must
@NomadicBrian9 ай бұрын
My selfish checklist wish: 1. Let Mike Elias know the team is his to manage and he has the full backing of the new owners. Elias sign long term contracts. 2. Assign someone to deal with the MASN deal and/or whatever is happening with MLB and baseball streaming. I would love a way to buy a package and put the money in the Orioles rather than subsidize all the teams like I did with MLB TV. 3. Finalize the deal with the city of Baltimore and the ball park long term 4. Expand the area around the ballpark and reach out to the community (I don't live in Baltimore so that's a local area thing)

I think Adley is the most likely player to sign an extension as soon as Rubenstein takes over. He just turned 26 this week and is 3 years older than Gunnar. Plus he's not a Boras client like Henderson and Holliday and catchers don't usually make crazy money. Right now the highest paid catcher in MLB is JT Realmuto who's in the 4th year of a 5-year/$115.5M deal. Keep in mind that Juan Soto turned down a deal worth more than $400M from Nats and he's a Boras client. And even though he's been in the big league since 2018, he's 8 months younger than Rutschman.

KZbin TV is very reluctant to add regional RSNs in attempt to keep their prices down. It's not just MASN. That said, MASN does need to take the approach of the YES Network and allow for cord cutters to buy a season (or even monthly) subscription to watch games. YES charges $25/month or $240/season for Yankees games.

That seems like a steal to me. Less than $2 per game if you take advantage of it!

I’d tweak the uniform, nothing drastic though. Re-do the script on the jerseys. How about the 1966-1988 script? The current version takes up the whole front. I believe Angelo’s’ O’s started wearing that version in 1995…

They are 23 now with o'hern signing. They need to extend Addley this year. Henderson next year. Trade Anthony and Mullins over next 2 year's for more farm players or controllable young pitchers.
@JeffStiens9 ай бұрын
What I think is, the reason payroll is low is because they have paid out large sums to acquire and develop young talent below the major league level. When you have a large farm system and expenses (8 million Jackson Holiday) its not reflected in the club 40 man roster. I get big money is paid in free agency but do you always get value for that? No and its high risk. The O's are doing a blend of both. Angelos deserves credit for where the team is today which is in great shape. Great pipeline ( best is baseball), low debt and great team. We won over 100 games!! Give the current owners some credit. We are is a great spot!!!!
@LockedOnOrioles9 ай бұрын
Jackson’s 8 mil signing bonus came from the draft pool. That has nothing to do with player payroll. And any spending on development was simply to catch up to the rest of the league. They’re not spending any more there than any other org
@BrianW-dz6yn9 ай бұрын
@@LockedOnOrioles not sure if you misread but my man said it has nothing to do with payroll. Also, he never said we are spending more than anyone else. I read it like he feels player development is a better investment.
@LockedOnOrioles9 ай бұрын
@@BrianW-dz6yn I just think the money it takes to invest in your player development costs much much less than what it takes to extend players. That's why pretty much every team invest somewhat in the system, Because it's fairly cheap. It's cheap enough that a billionaire owner doesn't have to choose one or the other.

Rubensteins First order order of business. (1). Continue to empower Elias to lead the O's from a GM perspective. (2). Determine budget for 2025 (3). Slowly weed out John Angelos :) (4). As he ramps up, follow successful owners like Steve Bisciotti - Get involved when needed. Otherwise, stay out of it and empower your team of experts to do what they do best.

I've heard that the reason we haven't had an all star game is because of the Angelos family is there any truth to this?

I would easily pay to be able to stream Os games on my phone/TV.
@darkwulf2k9 ай бұрын
I think as far as spending goes, it will come in retaining Adley, and Gunnar. Those are going to be expensive keeps. Grayson, and Braddish will be there too. It's about willing to pay to keep the talent in Baltimore, while spending some money on some quality players in FA. We also have Holiday, and Mayo still to come. Will be interesting to see what they do with the big ones coming up though for arbitration, and contracts. I forsee Adley moving to the DH spot eventually. Would be nice to see em spend, even get to $125 million. Would love to see improvements to MASN, esp since going to be going to interwebs only to save money. Give me a chance to stream my O's please! Seriously. Was hoping on ESPN+ might have a chance to watch em. Guess could go old skool radio.

I live in New Orleans and watch Os games on the MLB app. Unless they're playing anywhere in the South: Arlington, Houston, Atlanta, Miami or Tampa. Or apparently if they make the post-season. Then it's blacked out. I guess they expect me to drive 6-20 hrs and purchase a ticket. Super frustrating...
