Wishing you and your family well. I recommend Safflower seed for your bird feeder. Squirrels do not eat it and birds devour it. Have a lovely day!

Wow Karen, I would be concerned a little myself about that cat. Love the garden and the beautiful bird. We have 2 adult children. Our oldest graduated in December of 23 with her master's degree and an Occupational Therapist. She lived away at college for 5 years, however came home for her fieldwork assignments and about to move out. Our son is 19 , working and going community college at this time. My husband and I will be married 30 years as of August and we are about to take a vacation by ourselves for the first time in about 20 plus years. 😂❤. Thanks for a great video

That dress is just so beautiful on you! I am 43 and have needed to repaint and fix up my house after minimizing. You have inspired me to do so. I used to feel guilty about taking breaks, but do accomplish so much more when I do. Thank you!

We had a brown bear in someone’s tree a few years ago. Rarely seen here. But neighbors close by me have had bob cats in their yards and yoga teacher had a mountain lion on her property.

We’re just now seeing Fischer cats in our area. Department of wildlife suspects it’s because so much of their territory has been lost in the last several years do to wild fires. Still very rarely seen.

We occasionally have coyotes, bob cats & snakes but usually just rat snakes. We also have armadillos, rabbits & sandhill cranes often, daily.

Never heard of fisher cat. Looking that up! Wow great idea below about dryer sheets near plants. I will try that. I’m also in the slow living phase of life. I do about 15 min work then sit down for a few. It’s about the only way I can get anything done without completely fizzling out. ///Did you make it to the mail box/post office yet? A pkg should have arrived for you on Friday. ❤ em

You could build a Catio and put your garden inside of that?? Lol My garden is inside the Catio fence area because of the deer. When we first moved in the house 12 years ago we had a raised garden that was further out into the yard but we built a fence around it to keep out the deer.

8:46 I do both, some days I push myself if I’m feeling productive or energetic, or sometimes I am gentle with myself when I having a tired day and take a rest day. Also I am the same as you with cooking, mostly just cook dinner for 3 of us. I cook breakfast on occasion. I do tend to cook once eat two twice so there is leftovers though.

Deer love Mums, you would just be planting a fresh snack for them and inviting them deeper into the flower beds. You can find all sorts of deer resistant flowers like Lantana that deer don’t care for. I believe your Science experiment tomato just needs a much bigger pot with more soil.

Hey Karen. Gardens can be such a struggle to keep the animals out. Hang in there. Also let your daughter know she can get perineal wildflower seeds and she would only need to plant once and can add to it every year. Also if she did buy perineal seeds, like strawberries they may not flower the first year.

I so hear you! No deer in my garden but slugs have destroyed so many of my beloved plants. And a marten uses my plants as toilet almost every night! He tramples them and poops right in the middle. 😳 Anoing but there is not much we can do. Nature is theirs too. I´m planing on putting in more plants that slugs don´t like as much. Have you tried liquid fence for your roses? Hugs - have a nice week!

I buy cheap scented dryer sheets-I use a clothes pin and clip one dryer sheet to the top of a cheap wooden hotdog stick and place it in the ground near the plants that I know the deer like to eat. I’ve been doing this for a few years and it works like a charm. A farmer gave me this advice. The deer equate the scent of the dryer sheet to humans. Hope this was helpful. Have a great weekend 💖Carol

Also I heard that dried coyote urine works to keep deer away. You should be able to get it at the garden center or hardware store or Amazon.

The tomatoes need to be watered more often. You want to get to them before they droop. That may be causing the dry rot. I also use cayenne pepper to keep critters away

Having the mints planted on the perimeter will look beautiful. Does mint deter the deer?

Karen, my 90something year old aunt who lived up on a mountain struggled with deer but what she did is go to garden centers or hardware and buy bag of dried blood pour it around perimeters of your garden or maybe even your yard snd that helps deter the deer from eating your plants. They also dont like human hair. Sounds gory but a lot of old timers did that

Hello from Canada. 🇨🇦. We only plant orange like tiger lilies because deer generally don’t bother orange flowers. Human hair deters deer also.

Idk if this works but have you tried talking an Irish Springs soap bar and putting shavings around the plants. My husband said they sell a bird seed that has chili powder on them that’s supposed to keep the squirrel away

I am so sorry that some of your plants were eaten by the deer and bugs, it must be a little deflating morale wise. Perhaps eventually you could consider making an enclosed garden in a little fenced off area. I have to admit I love seeing all the wildlife that comes to your garden, you are so lucky to be so close to nature in that way. Although, I admit I would also be nervous around cougars. When I was younger I used to have a friend who worked at a very large zoo in my hometown. So I got to spend a lot of time at weekends around wild animals. My favourites were the sloths, elephants, pangolins, penguins and the baby black rhino I was in the enclosure with about a week after it was born.
