ID's have existed in competitive magic the gathering for pretty much ever. RB is pretty much following the mtg model so if the tourney is a 5 rounder, win 3 times and then draw twice to top 8. Otherwise win 4 times and guarantee it. Regardless, you still gotta win to make top cut so IDs really are a non issue if you're losing anyways

The point of these championships being consistent is important. I only went to 2 of them and they were run very differently.

Its cool for people to travel to multiple championships but its not cool when locals didnt even have a chance to play because so many non locals were farming 5 or more events.

Not everyone has the ability to travel to various store championships. Their local store may have been their only chance. Also it's not just about new players being better than the locals. I was a nervous wreck getting there cause it was my first tournament with my first tcg (collected Pokémon cards but didn't play.) When I got there, I was chatting with everyone and relaxing. Then the tournament was about to start and these pro players we've never seen before start adding in rule clarifications and "just FYIs" that, sure they're good to know, but no one asked. And then I got nervous again. The ppl I played were nice, but it was a tense atmosphere.

first things first i always enjoy your videos and this time i'll have atleast a nische scenario you guys can think about :D 32 player event i was 3:0 playing R/A then out of 32 player i hit 2 of 3 redfasas that killed me ..... sooo i endet up rank 9 just not making top cut which at first i was fine with but then i figured out that 4 people drawed and so there where 4 people having 3-1-1 records which would not exsist if they could not draw :D the 2 people who defeated me that day endet up at rank 2 and 3 soooo i would have made it into top cut :( i mean tbh i probably misplayed here or there i dont know and i just need to get better at the game but as i am new to these typ of scenarios i was shoked that the high points table ist making the math and i never heard of it :D whatsoever keep doing what you guys are doing and thanks for all the infomations :)

As a competitive player myself after winning 2nd place in one of my locals i never went to the other 3. It is by my own belief that casuals and 1st time tcg players be given the chance to play and win. Jumping in to play all the other events to win them all feels greedy no matter how much justification i put into it. If this keeps happening to future local store championships it will sway away new generations of players to the game which is bad for the game long term. There are other avenues for the competitive play which are challenge events. I hope local events prioritize the locals.

I think there is a double edge sword in this, I understand the 'get good' mentality. All you have to do is win. Yet I also understand that the tourny would not exist without the casuals every week telling ravensburger their store is worthy enough to get a tourny slot. And it's a feel bad knowing that your dedication for the game at that store was for someone else. I think at a store level, as long as it's in the black, it's good. I just hope the casuals don't fall away. because that is where the support comes from. Maybe the casuals will get better, maybe they just won't sign up for set champs. We will see.

@@TheForbiddenMountain There is no meshing them together. Look at magic. There is a pro tour. It takes points to get there. Not all stores do qualifying events. The prize pool in pro tour is much better than what happens at a WPN friday night level. A player who wants to be on that level will seek it out and it's understood ahead of time. When the store needed to qualify for the lorcana tourny based on activity in leagues/pre release it was basically a store champ but was open to all. That's where the salt happens. In magic we have store champs every set and it's not all that. This was different. I knew it would be. I talked to our group and explained it to them ahead of time and the expectations we set that it was probably going to be more sweaty than they are used to and they chose to go in to get the experience, maybe even get the competitive itch. Lorcana is still young and needs to get to the point they can separate between competitive and casual. Both sides are important. Whats good is that as store now knows if the prize pool is good enough, they can run more competitive events on a non casual night. No system is perfect. That would not be any fun if it was, right? Maybe they need a set and store champs event. For store events you need to be a regular at the store and maybe only one entry on the event, set champ is open to all. This would help the newer players to know the difference.

I disagree. It is the store's championship. Without stores we wouldn't be able to have such events.
