He’s great at being a glue piece for the team, help set up other team mates, contribute defensively and drive to the basket. He’s active off ball. He needs to get better at shooting and rebounding. Giddy is a lot like Jason Kidd early on in his career a good rebounder, shot creator and defender. He's at his best when he's allowed to run the offense, if OKC isn't going to put the ball in his hands just trade him. They'll sometimes stagger his minutes so he's on the court with the second unit, so he can sometimes run the offense unimpeded. But that's not the same thing. Do you think they're letting SGA just go stand in the corner and wait for the ball to come to him? No they don't, I'll never understand why people run their mouths all reckless when they have no idea what they're talking about

So far he shoot 8/26 for 30.8%. Last season he ended up with 32.5% which is not great but not bad either. A long video to talk about a non problem plus Giddey works fine with SGA. His role can very likely be to bring the ball to SGA and that's perfect.

It's slightly below average for a negligeable margin.

Giddey is often the loudest guy on offence because he understands good offence, there are occasions where there is nothing available but Giddey will create something due to his IQ and vision. You’re about 10 years behind the maths on that one lmao. He’d be doing well to be shooting 45% on those types of shots which is 0.9 points per possession. League average points per possession is like 1.18. That’s horrible offence. That’s the same as if he was shooting 30% from three. When he steps further in it’s also easier to close out to him so the spacing is even worse.

Look, it's not that I don't think that had Giddey shot better from 3, their offense would have been even scarier, BUT - they're currently 6th in team PPG, with almost 120 per game, second in FG% and first (!!!!!) in 3P% by a margin (the only team with more than 40%), so..... IDK, maybe it's not such a problem after all🙂 I believe he's just looking for his place there, now that a dominant force like Holmgren joined, and it's fine. I mean, he's not looking to be the star. He's a team player who looks to do all the "little" things which are the real glue of a team. Those things sometimes go unnoticed. It's good to have players like him. BTW, one last thing - he shoots 30.8% from 3. Last season he shot 32.5% from 3. Wasn't it a problem back then too...? :-)

I really like Josh. But considering the whole team can pass the ball and SGA is a great playmaker, I worry for his future on the team. Having a guy who's basically a secondary playmaker and not a very good defender who cant really shoot isn't as valuable as say Cason Wallace who can be an amazing 3 and D guard down the road. He's already an absolute dog on defense and it shooting 62% from the field and 54% from three an all be it 7ppg so not a huge sample size. But I think maybe by his sophomore year we could crank up his minutes and he could be a great defender and 40% three point shooter and it could be time to move on from Giddey.

Our offense doesn’t demand you be a good shooter. This is literally what people said about Lu last year and he was a better shooter. The 21 year old isn’t as valuable spotted up. He has to take them otherwise he’s Ben Simmons. But if I dropped LeBron, a similar 6’9 giant playmaker you wouldn’t spot him up either. He can, but you’d understand there are smarter ways to leverage his size and playmaking weak side. And 2 years have shown that. A cold stretch with precedent doesn’t.

I totally see everything you are saying... but I think it's too early to hit the panic button yet.. Chip just started tearing his shots down to rebuild him only like a year ago and that stuff takes a little time.. plus.. he's still 21 so he's pliable and willing to learn.. if he's still getting ignored by mid season next year then I'll say I love you Giddy but I don't know that you fit the timeline.. atleast not as a starter.. so we are either gonna need you to run the bench or we are gonna have to move you and bring up Cason Wallace to the Starting line up or Isaiah Joe... although I will say Giddy's D hasn't been as horrible this year as it was last year.... which improved significantly from the year before... he's still not great.. but I like how it's trending upwards.. I do think part of the jolt on his offensive side has been because the team has been trying to figure out how Chet fits in... which I think we've found now.. Mark said that he's been in a little bit of a weird place to start the season.. but that should improve.. and if he can get some more confidence in the stroke Chip is teaching him he'll start nailing more of them.. because I think part of the issue I see with his shot is more to do with him not trusting himself behind the 3point line so he has a hesitation about taking the shot that I think kinda destroys his rhythm.. the games(GSW) where he's been just pulling the trigger no hesitation he went 3 for 3 and then 1 of 2... when I've watched the games(and I've seen all but the Kings game) previously he was passing up wide open 3s about 80% of the time because you could just see it in his face he had no confidence.. and I don't know about you but if you don't do something with confidence it doesn't matter because you've already bricked.. Even if you think you are gonna fail.. do it with conviction...

Giddey isn’t a good shooter but he is one of the best pastors in the league and has a very high IQ. He can make some great plays that lead to scores. I definitely get what you’re saying, but there’s a lot of things that get it does do well. We’re also 14 games in the season and we’ve added Chet Holmgren to the mix and there’s going to be some growing pains learning, how to play with each other. it is very likely that Gedis will get his shooting percentages up to at least 33% as the season goes on, so I’m not that worried. Seems as though the thunder are doing pretty good regardless.
