As an f2p player i remember this update hurt really bad because thanks to slash royal more then half my cards were finally maxed after years. Now i only have 2 level 14 cards almost a year later and a ton of level 13s with barely any spare cards on them. The biggest scam is still actively occurring in the game and that is balance changes. New card gets introduced and it’s awful then receives a huge buff a couple days later. If you want to push ladder you have to have that card, forcing top players to shell out hundreds to max out a singular card just for it to be nerfed a month later. This happens with dormant cards to most recently barb hur more than likely forcing people to spend their resources/money on it

I’m a f2p player but I actually really enjoyed this update, apparently I’m alone. I was very close to becoming lvl 13 before this came and slash royale allowed me to get to maxed lvl and the addition of 14 made my main deck almost instantly lvl 14 as well. This had the desired effect for me, I got a massive boost in progress and was able to catch up to becoming a maxed player. This was like 9.5/10 update for me.

That’s what fucked up the game, It used to be a grind, like a huge grind to get max level, and the good players who had been playing since beta had the advantage which is how it should be. I spent 6 years straight playing that game since beta and that update made it possible for people who were 3 years in to max out their decks and level 9 players got ahold of the golden cards. then they took away my badges and it looks like i’m a basic player. I used to have the rarest badge in the game, which was the beta tester badge, which is now gone. I feel like I got scammed with that

I used to play daily but pretty much quit after this update. It took me many years to 1. Find a deck I like and 2. Upgrade that deck to level 12. When slash started I upgraded some cards to level 13 for the first time and was optimistic about no longer having to face overleveled players, only to be put right back where I started. Additionally, me being king lvl 14, I only get paired with maxed players while I have level 12 cards, its not fun …

You can still be harsh to them, because I was one of those people upgrading everything and I wasn't maxed out on everything. I quit playing the game because it just felt like there was too much I needed to do. Everytime I hit a new trophy count or arena, the meta changed and I had to try to upgrade new cards or make entirely different decks with underleveled cards. The slash royal event got me back into the game because I could finally have a bunch of cards at the proper level instead of only one deck that would become bad as soon I moved up the ladder. I know a lot of people got scammed, but for people like me, we finally got to have a decent selection of cards and play new decks without getting crushed by cards higher levels than ours

What they were trying to do is what they do with the "Hammer Jam" in Clash of Clans, where the building time and cost is halved so you can get more progress before an update. It failed as it wasn't hinted that the announcement video never talked about that, whereas the first hammer jam teased that there was going to be a new town hall. Also they realized that CR and COC's economies are different, and just copying a update idea from one game to another doesn't work.

As a f2p player who played from the soft launch to about Clan Wars 1 who then picked the game back up in summer of 2022, all the changes overwhelmed me. Champion cards were fine and all and I didn’t really mind Clan Wars 2 besides the fact you can’t opt out and the matchmaking problems. However level 14 made the ladder virtually unplayable for me as someone with primarily level 12 cards. My “max” zap was no longer killing maxed goblins for example. Clan Wars really didn’t help me out with this imbalance either since some of my decks would have level 10 and 11 cards. About two weeks ago I quit again due to the lack of cards and especially gold due to me not playing Slash Royale. Glad other people despise level 14 as well even for different reasons.

I mean, I think that they should have told people the day of slash royale that they were making TH 14, but I can accept it as an honest mistake to delay it until day 4. I think that they did pretty good at accommodating in the end by refunding (which we deserved) and the next 200k event (which was a nice bonus to apologize). I'm F2P (except for very rare occasions.) When Slash Royale started, I was like "Yay! I can level up fully some of the cards I haven't!" I used up a lot of gold, but then saw Ash's video and was so mad because I wasted the gold to level cards I didn't use all that often. If I had known previously, I would have horded the gold to be able to level to 14 4 or 5 cards that were in my decks. Almost a year later, and I'm starting to get cards to level 14 that I don't use all that often. But it took forever to get 32 cards (4 8 card decks) to level 14 for clan wars.

Nintendo doesnt want you to play their game in a different way than whats on the box, and actively try to destroy anything the community tries to build up

Aside from one instance where supercell listened to their members for slashgate in clash royale (in which they admitted they made a mistake), supercell has made their games, in particular coc and royale hard to play. In 2013 and 2014 when the game was arguably at its peak in terms of usage, I can’t tell you how hard it was for players to level up. Ever since the 20s decade, they’ve made it easier for players to level up despite launching more content that doesn’t support the f2p mechanic. By which time it’s too late. Royale is starting to implement this much more now and earlier, but they’ve lost a significant chunk of players. Royale is a different animal from coc since the game has much more issues (I.e cheating, toxicity of players, tilt, etc). And despite all these issues, I’ve not seen supercell listen to its community. Especially with royale, they make the game so unplayable that you want to just quit everything. Nintendo, meanwhile, has created many ways for you to play the game. Like with any video game, it has its issues. The difference between them and supercell? They actually LISTEN to their players and have better balancing changes. While the two companies are different beasts, such as how supercell is more about leveling up, and nintendos is just one way to play on the box, as you said, there are many patches created since they implemented online play back with Nintendo wfc. For instance, one recent being the mk8dx on switch online play. They try to make it more family friendly, which isn’t good for people who have been playing their games for a long time and are committed pros, I get it. But it creates more sense of balancing. What I mean by this is one of the changes they made to that game in the recent patch. You would see lot of Waluigi in the roller wiggler kart (atv) players, which in supercell terms, is the equivalent of hog 2.6 or logbait players in royale dominating the meta, as I like to call it. Nintendo patched this to enable ANY character and ANY combination be dominant. Even the standard kart tire glider combination has its own unique traits that make it dominant to play. Therefore, I don’t think that they try to destroy anything the community builds up. I do admit that the company is becoming more money hungry with the implementation of the online membership, sure, but let’s face it. They told us we’d get magic items for champions THIS YEAR. Still waiting. EDIT: Or maybe they said it was ways to trade them? Less likely, but maybe, I don’t quite remember. Either way, we’re still waiting on those! EDIT 2: Champion rarity Wildcards have now been added! (shortly after I posted this comment) Took them long enough, I was starting to question if they actually were still planning on doing it.

It did hurt me a bit cause up until slash royale, I was pretty free to play, only bought the 1 season. I have as well played since global and I felt really good knowing even I made to legendary even with underleveled cards. Then more arenas got made and hog mountain was no longer legendary but I quickly made it back up. Personally, as much as it sucked, it didn't bother me too much since I really did only upgrade the cards I use and then again once we was refunded everything back so I was pretty well off Edit - ok so what's yall thoughts on lvl 15? Personally I wouldn't mind it since I still only up the cards I use but I can see why it would be very bad if not added carefully

Yeah, this makes sense but really it comes down to the level 14 itself being the problem. Leave _Slash Royale_ alone! Now, if they actually REPEAT the event this year, I think the community will seriously forgive them and be thankful… as long as it doesn’t come with another level. Don’t add another (final) level 15 before a long, long time, please. It would be MATHEMATICALLY nice for every card rarity to work in increments of 3, and the max level + tournament standard would both be divisible by 3… plus there would be 15 levels and 15 arenas, kinda like the 13 from the past. They’ll probably have champions start at 12 (so everything about champions would just move up by 1)… but please, not before a long time. Keep giving us home without taking it away from us!
