I needed to hear this. I am in a transition period, and I am tired of the naysayers and the obstacles. This is timely advice.

Good advice Happened twice. 7 yrs ago was afraid to take drastic pay cut, but I knew opportunities to advance was greater. Passed it. Two years later another opportunity came but not too serious to take it, getting older blah blah blah all excuses. The person who took is now way advanced. Still stuck. Lesson learned take it scared mainly when opportunities are greater.

So true, I've been holding back from going back to school for a long time. I'm 40yrs old, I'm taking 1 class this summer, I'm doing IT, I'm shit scared that I won't understand it but so far I'm passing my class with an A. I'm scared that when I get to math I will fail because I hate math and I'm not good at it. But only time will tell. I'm just doing it "scared" anyway.

I have my masters in mathematics It's not that bad I promise you telling urself it's hard making it harder than it really is plus I think u should sign up to get paid to go to school so ur being rewarded it's only 7300 a month now instead of what it used to be but still not that bad but good luck regardless

I was working in public accounting, and the amount of disrespect I faced put me in deep distraught. Managers slamming fists on the table when I asked questions, partners calling me crazy, seniors reprimanding me because I highlight the entire row in excel and not just the first few cells, and so much more. All of this while working 60+ hours per week. Eventually I took the leap and transitioned into industry accounting. I now earn more money, with very respectful managers and colleagues. I was so scared of leaving my previous job because it had only been 11 months of working there and I felt that it would really look bad on my resume if I switched jobs this early. I’m so glad I switched jobs. My mental health is so much better. Better work hours, better colleagues, and so on.
