The whole war is a fizzer, whatever that term means. I mean Hitler made war with US money; Ford helped Hitler make his tank factories. Then, when USA bombs german factories they paid Ford back. In fact, USA itself was founded by europeans, and at some point they even could have taken german as official language. They have been shooti themselves in the wars, and nowdays they are friends. Wars are of no use. I think the end pretty much reflects the reality.

I loved it. So many of these independent short films on You Tube are very well done. I've been a collector of WWII military for over 30 years, so, yes, there are costuming/equipment inaccuracies but over-all it's a terrific effort. The writing is fantastic. And while the ending it Is disappointing, It does illustrate how abrupt and tragic combat is. The cinematography is very very well-done, locations are very believable and the sound, (even the weapon sounds )is well done.
@zangtumtung6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your very kind words. There are bits of the film I still cringe at (mostly the writing) but I'm still proud of it. I'm glad you were able to forgive some of the obvious costume 'malfunctions' so many people here on KZbin seem to think we/filmmakers do it deliberately to annoy them :-), if I had the budget at the time....etc etc As for the ending...to be honest I was a bit stuck as to how to end it. Several ideas had a rather sappy/happy ever after resolution which went in the bin...in the end I thought 'let's just kill 'em! My second film 'Lost' is also available on my channel and hopefully shows a progression in all areas. As we speak I am in pre-production for my next film 'The Legacy'. The war in Soviet Union was the crulest ever, on both sides. I don´t know if Germany would have won the war without american intervention. But I know that the Soviets would have invaded and subdued the whole Europe if they weren´t attacked by the Germans. The German Wehrmacht was the best army of all times concerning discipline, qualification, weapons, tactics, logistic and efficience.

Great movie. One problem; that is the 4th one in a row I've watched that paints nazis in a good light. This contradicts nearly every eye witness account by both soldiers an civilians during that time. They were typically either fanatical or "just following orders". They thought of themselves as Superior and laughed as they mowed down hundreds of Polish soldiers.

I love the story presented, the theme shown, and can't argue...but the ending was what broke it for me. There should have been far more elaboration from the paratrooper about his 'captive', because by that point, at gunpoint, they should have realized they were dealing with a twitchy individual. Ah! No problem...I start filming my new film in three weeks time! What's it about? ....think 'Band of Brothers' meets 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'! I have to work with the costumes and props that I have but yeah you're right, maybe something about Dutch resistance fighters aiding the allies. We British will never forget the bravery, dedication and sacrifice of resistance fighters all over Europe during the war.

Normandy was nowere near the tipping point. It was an important operation, with the soldiers showing great courage and strenghth as their fellow allies the Russian soldiers in Stalingrad, Smolensk, Kursk, and even great German soldiers, but as far as Allied commanders none were present on the beach cos they had no balls. Soviet commanders of whole armies stayed with their forces even during encirclements, with some of them barely managing to escape and some even loosing their lives. Allied officers were just tactical, rational but with emotions.

Only the British Paratroopers had snap release on the parachute. The Americans had buckles, when they dropped in the flooded areas many drowned. But it was an interesting short film.

It was interesting how the American Solider kept telling him how tough things were for him. And in reality, the German was thinking that this American had really no idea how tough he (German) really had.

Excellent story. The German was a superb actor and the American wasn't too bad... it was the American's demeanor and appearance that took away from the film. First of all, he needed a haircut. NO company commander would permit anyone in his command to have a haircut that look like a 1930's German rebel. The American was too emotional...he should have toned his personality down a bit. The German was just a regular Wehrmacht soldier; it was very rare that a soldier of the Wehrmacht would be a member of the Nazi party. The Nazis were almost always SS troops. Other than that, VERY interesting film

Thank you Jack for your lovely comments, much obliged! Alas trying to get an actor to get his haircut for just two days of shooting is tricky (especially when they're not getting Hollywood wages!) Do have a look at my other film 'Lost' here on my channel, I always enjoy feedback. I also have a feature film due to start production shortly called 'The Legacy' (Another WW2 set film...It's clearly a 'thing' of mine😍)

I certainly understand about local actors not wanting to cut their hair. It's sad, because their hair will grow back, but the finished film will be around for years and if they should have an opportunity to participate in any future films, the director will surely ask him about his hair. Again, I compliment you on a well done film!

Yes I remember reading about that. I love the fact that they were able to meet after the war. This story is actually based on two true stories; one recounted to me by an elderly French man many years ago about how he helped a British parachutist out of a tree on the night before D-Day and the other of an American and a German soldier some days after D-Day, both wounded and did the 'if we come across Americans you're my prisoner, if we come across Germans, I'm your prisoner' thing. Thanks for watching😎

Thank you Rick. No director is EVER happy with their films, it's what makes you work harder and try to make them better, even the great Ridley Scott said of 'Alien' (a great film right?) "It's the film I'm least unhappy with" 😧 ...but thank you again for your kind words.
