Let me make something clear that I didn’t mention in the video. My wife and I didn’t know how bad this vehicle was prior to me making a 2 1/2 hour drive 1 direction a total of 5hrs round trip so I wasn’t leaving empty handed and out of my better judgment I got it anyways. The pictures in the ad looked nothing like it in person and if they had been I wouldn’t have wasted my time. It didn’t help it was dark when I got there couldn’t see everything wrong with it and the misfire I assumed was a simple spark plug replacement I was wrong but more importantly my wife and i got to bond more over this vehicle and the work we put into it together. It runs great and drives great now so it was worth the work.

I love my 2004 MDX Technology. 184,000 miles, and drives like it is brand new! It drives like my dad's 2011 Range Rover Supercharged! And the sound system is phenomenal with Bose Surround sound!! Plus it has a 5 star crash rating, weighs 6300 pounds! Gets 28-30MPG on the tollway, and has VTEC, and 284 HP! I named him Maximus. I had bought Maximus when I was 15 myself. I had mowed over a hundred lawns, trimmed countless trees, and worked my butt off! It was well worth it to own such a phenomenal vehicle! Now I had just turned 21, and Maximus is doing fantastically, and still drives like new! Even at 191,000 miles! That's my Acura story.

I just bought a 2022 MDX . Next day my brother drove to Houston to get a 2013. All cars in San Antonio are trash. You have to look at north Austin for quality cars at normal prices. He was looking for A while and finally got what he wanted but had to drive 4 hours. As for me , the kids cried when our 2008 RDX was gone. It’s all they knew since they were born . But now we are enjoying the new MDX. Everyone is taking pics of the car. The blue Aspec color sticks out.

Congrats on the MDX! I had picked up an 05 last summer with trans issues and unfortunately it was totally fried, these 1st gen mdx are notorious for trans issues. Ended up parting out some stuff and getting my money back out of it. Was a shame because it only had 100k on it and was mint aside from the trans

@@TexasHondaChannel yes what had happened was the trans cooler failed which mixed atf and antifreeze. I think yours would have the same thing so you might want to invest in an air trans cooler to replace the factory rad one

Oooooooh I see your Navi system was crapping itself. Bought mine October 2023 and it hasn’t worked since :) admittedly mine went through comparable hell with the previous owner, but those Nav screens are jackasses. Love to see the mdx represented by someone willing to give it the TLC it deserves!

Love, love, love my 2003 MDX. Original owner. 220,000 miles. What an amazing workhorse. I’ve taken good care of her. I’m looking at possibility replacing her. Can I expect to get 220,000 miles on a new MDX??? Sometimes they just don’t make them like they used to.

That was one busy week. MDX looks much better than before. It might be cheaper to go scrap yard shopping for some of the panels on the MDX and just swap them out before paint. The dent removal cost a small fortune where I live. Not many places to have it done.

I went to the junkyard for the door panels and parts I replaced. Idk if you watched the video to the end but I did say that. I replaced all 4 door panels, got 6 need seat belts because some were cut, I bought the entire 2nd and 3rd row from the junkyard and a bunch of other things all from the junkyard. I wasn’t pulling the dash so I painted it

@@TexasHondaChannel bodywork sucks to do. I'm not a body guy more mechanical and electrical. Really any skill I had with it came from dirt racing. Plus all my cars are old too so rust is an issue. It's pretty hard to find good body parts for older 70's and 80's cars here in Indiana so I usually look for stuff from Texas or Arizona to just replace dented or rusted out panels. The MDX being newer I'd figure itd be pretty easy to find good stuff for. Much less paint or body work prep to work through that way.

Yea would be cool for sure but not much aftermarket support. We might lower it and do the exhaust but not much more than that since my wife isn't as much into the mods as i am. This is her mdx i know we are married and its "both of ours" But i try not to take over her vehicle too much. I have my toys and she has her mdx. Don't worry though something will happen im sure.

I have a 2002, bought it 1 year ago for $800 and put $3,500 over an 18,000 mile time. The transmission and engine never broke. I just had to do a-lot of maintenance, I did the timing belt, water pump, engine mounts,tie rods, control arms, axle’s, front shocks and springs, catalytic converter, rear brakes and rotors. But my car clunks when I put it from reverse to drive unless I hold the brake for a while. It also does it if I stop and and go rapidly. But it shifts normal from 0-60. It only clunks at fast stop and go. I think it might be the u-joints or drive shaft. Have you ever heard of this problem. The reasons I keep my car is because It never left me stranded even when it needed major maintenance.

We had the same issue on our 01 mdx. It turned out to be the rear differential insulator bushing (Acura part # 50712-S3V-A01 Rubber A, Rear Differential Insulator). It has 1 bolt to remove & is very easy to fix yourself, no need to raise the vehicle or drop other parts to change it. This solved our problem w/ clunking in reverse. Turned out to be the differential was moving up & down that was creating the noise/banging in reverse gear.

@@bluor3713 Thank you for the feed back I will have to check that out. I have 222,000 thousand miles now. I do remember the differential making noise going uphill when I first bought it. After I changed the diff fluid the noise went away. Thanks again I will be checking out that differential bushing. I can’t believe a differential could be so sensitive. Another thing I experience is when I accelerate past 40mph there is a quick slowdown in rpm and then it goes back up like nothing. Some people say they changed the shift solenoid and all there acceleration issues went away. Have you ever heard of that?

I have a 2005 pilot and I am a gm fan like my old GMC envoy but man nothing like this Honda only thing I don't like that don't run in the back differential but is confi is spacious alit better that envoy have more power and 3 road seat I want to keep the dam car to the end of the days 😂😂i 🤔 on rebuild the engine completely is a old car yesssss but rides like a Cadillac 2023 believe or not

random misfire is caused by exhaust valves needing adjustment ...they get tight / no play

I thought that too and that didn’t fix the problem I did the valve lash adjustment and it got smoother but still 6 misfires. Ended up being vacuum leaks in all 6 cylinders bad ignition coils, broken knock sensor and that cylinder 4 injector. It’s perfect now

Not really. I like the TL as it is. Ima do other things though. It’s a 6 speed manual though so great place to start is more horsepower so far packed on 6whp doing 1 mod and about to see what the 2nd mod did then supercharger

We yanked that Navi out and went to the base model version and converted it via Google search. it had nothing but issues with navigation

I have an 03, nav still works like new, which isn't saying much but it has no issues It occasionally gets the disc error but it always fixes itself after a few seconds, you could try pulling the disc out and cleaning it, it's under the passenger seat

Lol I find it funny when people say that like y’all are physic. It drives great the transmission shifts perfect and highway miles are a little different than in town miles. Everyone said the pilot transmission wouldn’t hold up yet we put over 65,000 miles on it with no issues. As long as they have proper maintenance they do fine. It’s already at 241,000 miles and matching vin on the transmission. When I drained and filled the fluid it wasn’t too dirty which means they kept up on the maintenance for the transmission at least.

Hello! Youre the only one i know of that could answer my question. I need to tow my 2006 MDX Touring 200 miles with a tow dolly. I hear it will wreck the tranny unless i unhook the rear driveshaft. If i pull the fuse for the AWD system, would i be able to tow it with the dolly without damaging the transmission? I asked a bunch of dealerships and they dont lnow much about it. Thanks for any advise you can give.

No issues why would I? It shifts perfectly. Everyone said the same thing about the pilot i put 65k miles on it and supercharged it and still never had a issue. This one is solid even for its milage. They used the car to go to and from Houston so it was a highway vehicle so the miles racked up fast because they lived in San Antonio and drove to Houston everyday for work. The transmission is fine I already serviced it and the fluid wasn’t too dark which means they serviced it regularly as well. That’s about the only thing they serviced
