I love your sparkly headband, what a great way to get a tiara look without going to the extreme of wearing one! I love how Eugenie wore the emerald tiara at her wedding. No veil, very simple lines of the dress, so the tiara was the focal point, which was perfect for such a lovely piece. And nobody looks better in green than a redhead! As for the Netherlands' Dutch Sapphire tiara - if the Brits owned it I'll bet Diana would have worn the heck out of it! And the Lovers' Knot tiara, looks like it was custom made for Catherine! It looks even better on her than it did on Diana. Something about their face shapes and the way the details jump out with the backdrop of Catherine's dark hair..

Unfortunately, Catherine is very conservative and traditional. I don't see her playing around with tiaras like Maxima. I really hope she uses what's in the vault rather than sticking with the same tiaras like Elizabeth pretty much did, especially in her later years. Let's hope she gets creative. I hope Camilla uses various tiaras as well.

The Napoleonic cut-steel tiara was amazing! I had no idea this existed. Stunning! 🥰
@AnnaLenaGbg Жыл бұрын
I am Swedish and have had the privilege of seeing it up close and then you really see the fantastic craftsmanship. It features small exquisite acorns and oak leaves that hang so freely that they move (and sparkle) as the wearer moves. They, like the style and material, were high fashion in Napoleonic France. Steel, yellow gold, pearls and cameos were preferred over white gold and diamonds which Emperor Napoleon associated with the deposed monarchy. Organic shapes such as leaves and flowers top fashion. The Swedish royal family's steel-cut tiaras and cameotiara are among the oldest still in use in Europe. The Danish ruby diadem came to Denmark via the Swedish princess Louise. She received it from her grandmother, Swedish Queen Josefina, as a wedding present as she believed that the Danish colors should go to Denmark. I am not sure if Josefina had inherited it from her family or from her mother-in-law. Both had close connections with Napoleon. Josefina was the daughter of Napoleon's stepson and mother-in-law Sweden's Queen Desideria was betrothed to Napoleon before marring JB Bernadotte ( who became Carl XIV Johan) and her sister was married to his brother.

I cannot choose just one favourite tiara; they are all so varied. I do love the Cut Steel tiara (“steel cut” is a term used for oats, lol!). I think it is often underappreciated. The workmanship used to create it is mind-boggling! Watching video footage of CP Victoria wearing it shows the tiara’s sparkle power. Another of my favourites is the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik. I love that Princess Eugenie wore it - a gorgeous tiara with coloured stones (an unusual choice for a royal bride but it was absolutely perfect for her) and I hope she will wear it to her uncle’s coronation this coming May.
@marblehead2500 Жыл бұрын
Cut Steel-are there no gems in these cut steel tiaras?
@WBCRO Жыл бұрын
@@marblehead2500 Nope. No gems - just intricate cuts to make a mesmerizing pattern of angled steel bits that catch the light as the wearer moves. It’s all the more impressive when you think they’re around two hundred years old when the available tools were less precise than what’s available today. I haven’t seen any cut steel tiaras in any other royal famines, just the Swedish.

I saw a comment you made of Princess Madeleine of Sweden and how the aquamarine kokoshnik tiara looked on her. As I listened to you, I thought of another one or at least a stone that would become her also. In the video you were talking about tiaras from the British Monach's vaults that you would love to see again. You sowed a gorgeous set, which included a tiara, of turquoise. That color would also look stunning on Princess Madeleine. Especially some of the old turquoise that was mined here in the states. I have seen some of the beautiful old squash blossom necklaces made over 150 years ago or more from the Navajo families. The old turquoise that was mined in the Four Corners area of New Mexico and Arizona was a beautiful deep clear color of the sky that you can sometimes see on a cloudless fall day. That kind of turquoise in a tiara and necklace, earrings, and bracelet set would look very beautiful on Princess Madeleine also.

The Greville collection was bequeathed to the Queen Mother when she was still Queen. It includes the tiara known as the honeycomb that Camila wears, the chandelier earrings (massive) the peardrop earrings (large enough to rival the coronation earrings, same as the emerald drop earrings) and the most epic necklace I've ever seen, the festoon necklace. Worn as 2 or 3 strands separately or as 5 (Camila wore it in Kampala in 2007). I've read the different sources that say this collection alone is between 50 & 60 pieces, so there's a massive amount we've never seen. Check out The Queen's Diamonds by Hugh Roberts, brilliant book.

You made some great choices -- I think I would have included the Swedish Amethyst and the British Grand Vladimir instead of the Cut Steel and the Strathmore. I TOTALLY agree with you about the Swedish Aquamarine! It looks so amazing on Madeleine, with her bright blue eyes. But, since she lives in Florida now, I suppose she doesn't have many opportunities to wear tiaras anymore. The Greville Emerald Kokoshnik is one that I actually did jumpy claps for when I saw Eugenie wear it for her wedding. Yes, it was part of the HUGE cache of jewelry left to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother by her friend Lady Margaret Greville in 1942. It was made by Boucheron in 1919, and the huge central emerald is almost 94 carats! The queen mother wore it a couple of times in the 1940s, but Queen Elizabeth II never wore it, and neither did anyone else until Eugenie did in 2018. She chose it because it matched the beautiful emerald and diamond pendant earrings Jack gave her as an engagement present, and which she also wore on their wedding day. If you are interested in jewelry, I encourage you to join my Facebook group, Royal or Historic Jewelry (facebook.com/groups/454331658670604), where we cover all of this!

But I have to say that The Lover's Knot on Catherine (especially in that dress) is beyond stunning! Tiaras are truly the exemplification of historically Royal tradition, and I love it that this has carried on over the ages. As one who loves fine jewellery and has a nice little collection of my own, it's simply asking too much to pick a favourite from these stunning pieces. I do like pieces that are slightly more original and different from others. If I had to choose, it would be Crown Princess Mary's Ruby and Diamond Tiara and Suite. She looks so regal and the way in which she has had it adjusted to fit her, makes the gems flicker in the light and simply takes my breath away. I've always admired the Lovers Knot Tiara, yet seeing Catherine wear it on her first appearance as Princess of Wales whilst wearing that beautiful white cape-sleeve gown took this to a whole new level. Although very different, the Netherlands Diamond Bandeau Tiara is a great statement piece with those huge Diamonds set in such a simplistic manner will always be to my liking, even when worn as a necklace. I'm not such an admirer of Tiaras that sit too high and prefer them to not overwhelm, thus liking them shortened. The Swedish Fringe Tiara with its all Diamond detail is quite feminine despite its slightly more modern styling. The late Queen Elizabeth's Kokoshnik Tiara is another that stands out despite having this similar setting and all Diamond detail. For those loving Tiaras, Royal Jewels and Jewellery in general, my friend @Andrew Pidor has a Channel on KZbin that shows beauties that will make your jaw drop! He shows many rarer styles of Royal Jewellery as well that hasn't been seen for some time. Well worth checking out.💎 PS. Brittany, I would very much love to see you make a video that shows Crown Princess Mary's transformation from an Australian citizen to that of the next Queen Consort of the eldest European Monarchy. Mary's story puts that of Megnut to absolute shame! What a journey she undertook, from an Aussie girl who grew up in the State of Tasmania, to a stunningly, elegant beauty on the world stage. She never expected to be handed a lavish lifestyle, yet instead worked so very hard to get to where she is today.🇦🇺💖🕊

Brittany, you have no idea what QEII has in her collections, you would back somersault if you saw the whole collection. The Queen had 49 tiaras (three of which are not in working order or have been partially dismantled for various reasons) you should research them before you come over because if you go to the Tower of London - all you will see are crowns. I want the royal family to bust-out the Grand Duchess Vladimir with the emerald drops (not the pearls and the Girls of Britain & Northern Ireland Tiara or even the Queen Mother’s Tiara - they are really something. I liked the larger steel-cut Tiara in this video it is something quite special.
