I bought a used Martin Custom DSR GC for $899 at Guitar Center last year and it's a cannon ! It still had protective plastic on the pick guard and appeared to never have been played. For a spruce top with solid rosewood back and sides, you can't beat it !

The best Taylor 810s are from the early 90s. I have had a 910 and 810 for 93 and 94 respectively. Magical guitars. The 84 810e (non cutaway) can be found for an absolute bargain.

Got an AD17e and love it but have been playing it a lot and it has some minor dings from use over time- if I were to sell I would probably lose 500 or 600 but don’t plan to sell and I knew that buying a new guitar would lose me some money when selling.

Gibson would easily win. That neck angle is their Achilles heel. I’m not knocking them, I own one. But it’s hard to figure why they keep that design when Epiphone sounds virtually identical but has a better neck angle.

You seem to be way off on Taylor 810s. One selling for 1100 bucks would be a very poor specimen. Recent Reverb sold prices show between 1900 and 2500 bucks for 810s. I think you really just don’t like Taylors and that is Cool and the Gang.

I also thought the valuations were off. Most popular models have price histories. For example IBG Epiphone hummingbirds retail for $850 and sell fast at $500.

I think you are right,But I could care less about what someone else thinks,I have several brand names and I've been playing guitar over fifty years and I honestly love Taylor guitars,This guy is pretty much Martin is the best and it's only his opinion not mine,I've had Many Martin guitars and I like some of them but in my experience Martin are way overrated and I've had more bad ones then good ones, Taylor and Guild are my favorite, Humidity is hard on all guitars and a dry or wet guitar can ruin it.Im thinking carbon fiber or whatever they make the guitars out of is probably the smart but,I've watched videos but have never played one,I would love to try one out.I have nine guitars and seven are high end Taylors the only Martin I've actually really liked is a 1980 Martin D-28 and I've had D-35S HD-28s D45 D-28 Twelve String and I've also had a lot of Gibson guitars and I really think Epiphone makes decent guitars for the price,My K-24CE and 914ce and 814 ce DLX v brace and a 614ce builders edition are absolutely beautiful and sound and play as beautiful as they look my 614 ce and 816ce also beautiful and play and sound really great my D-28 is the best playing and sounding Martin I've ever had or heard against other Martin's but it doesn't sound as good as any of the Taylors I have,If a guitar don't feel right and it don't play or sound good I don't want it I'm really really picky with guitars,I really reqret selling a Taylor 418E and a beautiful sounding Guild jumbo two guitars I wished I kept,My 914ce killed my Martin D-45 so I sold it.I have a Epiphone Dove and a Baby Taylor also that are for the money great guitars,I'm wanting a Taylor Twelve fret and a Taylor or Guild Twelve String ,I loved the Taylor 614ces so much I got two one a standard and the other v brace ,If I was going to have only one guitar it would be a Taylor 614ce they are absolutely great sounding guitars.

Buying any guitar today with the current inflation rate is foolish. Realize, we buy these high end guitars as tools, and as such their resale is irrelevant. If you want the best, buy the best and forget the initial cash layout.
