What makes Japan’s win over SA more impressive is they got a penalty but went for the win rather than take a kick to draw!

100%. I remember watching this with my dad. When they had the chance to get the 3, my dad said they have to go for the win, because they will never get a chance like this again. We have never cheered like that for someone who was playing against us. It was spectacular.

I was 11 when Nelson Mandela handed Francois Pienaar the trophy. I still get tears of pride and happiness in my eyes. The 1995 World Cup is definitely one of the greatest milestones in rugby history. It brought an entire nation that suffered years under apartheid, etc. together and not care about feelings, grudges, etc. The entire nation supported the Springboks. They won their first world cup with the entire nation behind them.

What makes South Africa's 1995 victory so unique was because it was far more important than a mere sporting triumph. It was the spiritual rebirth of a deeply divided nation out of the darkness of apartheid and helped bring in the new era of the rainbow nation. By a considerable distance the greatest, and most iconic, moment in RWC history that helped propel the competition to where it is today.

@@Aneurin_Hunt You're right and wrong. it's a question of honesty my friend. Nz fans are simply unable to recognize 2011 controversial final. In France, you won't find one rugby fan saying you "it was not a forward pass". Furthermore, there is a slight difference between Barnes mistake who misjudged a ball direction... and Joubert masterpiece who "forgot" a dozen of All Blacks infractions. The comment above perfectly sums up the problem. A big lack of honesty
