As for your question, there are several brokers in Sweden that offer investment savings accounts (Investeringssparkonto or ISK) and capital insurance policies (kapitalförsäkring) for daily trading. Some of these brokers include Nordnet, Avanza and SEB.

I’m not sure which bank offers a higher interests rate on a saving account. I never had a savings account. But all banks should offer a close rate of interest. However, I wouldn't recommend you to put your money in a savings account. The reason is: the interest rate that banks offer you is lowers than the rate of inflation. You might think you are making money every year but the reality is u are losing money. Banks know it too but they never say that to their clients. If you put your money in an index fund that will guarantee to bring you a 12-15% return on an average. The Swedish inflation rate is something around 3-4% year on year. ( this year has been way higher than that ) any return below 5% is not a smart investment.

Another piece of advice is to put your money in an ISK or KF account. You save taxes on the return.

Their platform is fine, I also like the fact they have low commissions. I also realized that they are not covered by strong insurance. If you are not from Sweden and living in other European countries then I would say Degiro is fine. But for Swedish citizens, Nordnet would be a better option.

I'm happy to hear that. Both Avanza and Nordnet are in fact identical. Everything that I said about Nordnet in this video is even true about Avanza. If you have an ISK account with Avanza you don't need to declare your taxes yourself, they will do it on your behalf. You just need to do your buy/sell stocks on their platform they will do the rest. :)

Thanks. 😊 There are generally two types of taxes that you need to consider. 1. Capital Gains Tax, 2. Income tax. Whether you are a day trader or investor you have to declare Capital gain tax each year. It's done by using the Average Cost Basis method (In Swedish: Genomsnittsmetoden). To accurately calculate it, you need to figure out your cost basis Price you sold shares - cost basis = profit or loss. You pay 30% taxes on the profits you make. If you made a loss, then 70% of the loss can be deducted. The great thing about The interactive broker is when you buy stocks they add the commission into your cost basis which saves a lot of time. You have to do it all by yourself. Yes, With IB you can buy&Sell OTC stocks as well. We have referral agreements with Interactive Brokers for ASHER students and employees. In case if you want to Sign up for an account with Interactive Broker, you can get up to US$1,000 worth of Stocks for free. @@Hananjith Oh, believe me, this is even simpler. First, Log in to Account Management with your pc or laptop. Left to your dashboard, you have 3 options. Choose deposit. Pick the account you want to deposit. For European members, the only option available is Bank Wire. So choose the Bank Wire. Write in your bank name in Sending Institution section, then Account Number, then give that account a name for a future deposit. Finally, an amount you are willing to deposit for now. Once it's done click on get wire instruction. You'll receive the Interactive Brokers Bank Wire Instructions. Then you'll use the given information to your bank to initiate the transfer. You go to your Swedbank transfer money abroad and fill in those data there. Swedbank will do the job for you within 3-5 days

Right. The great thing about The Interactive Broker is when you buy stocks they add the commission into your cost basis which saves a lot of time from calculating all your commissions yourself. You also have to convert all the numbers to Swedish Kr. it's important to do it on the same day every time you buy/sell because currencies fluctuate a lot. If you are a day trader then you need to keep track of your purchases regularly. You submit capital gains tax using the K4 form. You can get it on the Skatteverket website. As I said; cost basis Price you sold shares ( you can find that in your order and trades history ) - cost basis ( you can also see that in your portfolio section ) = profit or loss. You pay 30% taxes on the profits you make.

Avanza is very similar to Nordnet. Everything I've explained in this video about Nordnet is also true about Avanza except it does not have as good customer service as Nordnet. However, when it comes to IB there are benefits that Avanza doesn't have such as having access to pre-market and after-hours, options trading, futures trading, short borrowing, faster execution, professional platform, and access to a wider range of data. One thing that IB doesn't have is ISK & KF. To declare your taxes you are going to be taxed 30% on your total profits. While in Avanza and Nordnet by having ISK and KF your tax is being declared automatically and sure enough much lower than 30%. I personally use both Nordnet and IB. It's good to not put all your eggs in one basket. By doing that you reduce your risks, and at the same time experience both worlds. MVH

It all depends on the sum you want to deposit to a brokerage account. If you are thinking to invest in the long term with a large sum of capital then perhaps a Swedish brokerage firm such as Nordnet would be safer. Degiro offers cheaper commissions but it’s not safer than Nordnet indeed.

@bhanu prakash Hi, cool to hear that you moved to Sweden. I’m also using options trading to generate extra income. However, I do all of my options trading within the Interactive Brokers account. The truth is Options In the Swedish market are a bit different than in the U.S and other places. F.ex the number of shares in each contract is sometimes 1000 shares. And the expiration dates are too far or narrow. And to make the matter worse you cannot even trade options in the U.S market. Nordnet and Avanza are very similar but Avanza got a low-quality customer service.

Which is better for Index funds and beginner investors Avanza or Nordnet in Sweden?

Owning an index can only be accomplished indirectly, index derivatives, or index funds & ETFs. If you are interested to buy S&P 500 ETF, then it's SPY ETF that mirrors the index. However, you can't buy this on Nordnet or Avanza, but, you can buy the Swedish version of the ETF which is also mirroring the S&P 500. It's called S&P 500 Ava, it can be easily bought on Nordnet. For Swedish indexes. You won't have any problems. You can buy OMXS30, OMXC25, OBX through Nordnet.

The reason why Avanza was not covered in the video is that there are many different online brokers to choose from, and it was not possible to cover them all in one video. As you can see we are already in July and I feel those who would allow the market dynamism to determine When to trade or not are either new in space in general or probably just naive, the sphere have seen far worse times than this, enlightened traders continue to make good use of the dip and pump even acquiring more equities towards trading sessions, I'd say that more emphasis should be put into trading since it is way profitable than holding.
