As an American living in Paris for many years, (I am now retired living on the Cote d'Azur) I would always take my visiting American friends to all the sights you mention. But I always included some additional places that few knew about. First, 56 rue Jacob, in the St Germain area. I wanted my American friends to see where on Sept 3, 1783 the Treaty of Paris was signed. Representatives from the Kingdoms of Great Britain, France, Spain and the Dutch Republic met with, Benjamin Franklin, John Jay and John Adams representing the colonies, signed documents officially ending the American Revolutionary War and formally recognizing the 13 British Colonies as a free, independent, and sovereign United States of America. In many ways it was here that the United States was born. Secondly I would always take them by The Children's Statue of Lafayette, located just up from Place d'Alma along the Seine. It was a gift in 1908 from 5 million American school children, who raised all of the money, as a gift of friendship between our 2 nations.

What a fabulous comment. This Australian didn't know that John Adams was present at the signing of the Paris Treaty (did I miss this fact while watching John Adams the tv show?) and that it was signed in the St Germain area.

For those visiting Pere Lachaise, enter the name of the person you would like to find into Google Maps and it will show you the exact path to find them which is very helpful being a lot of the walkways can be vague.

Yes! Before online maps, I was constantly turned around and couldn’t find a number of graves, and I actually have a decent sense of direction. Fortunately, it’s a beautiful cemetery, so randomly walking around definitely isn’t a bad thing. 😊

My husband and I took up your suggestion for a dinner cruise on Le Calife and it was superb - thank you! We were in the situation you mentioned re needing to stay at the dock; throughout the winter of 2023, there had been a lot of rain and the Seine was too high for the boat to fit under the bridges. The company contacted us to say they could cancel us if we wished or they would provide some money back if we were happy not to cruise the river. We decided to accept the discount, get some money back for a taxi home, head to the boat and enjoy the view of the Louvre whilst eating the most delicious dinner. So, it is not the end of the world if the boat doesn't move, especially at night. We also had one of those overcrowded exhibition visits at the Musee D'Orsay - Van Gogh - and were really disappointed. So, in my book, a Seine dinner cruise (moving or not!) comes number 1 😀😘

The French are privileged to live among such amazing architecture.

Very well done. Been to Paris 3 times and going again in October 2024.I have been to most of these places already. One I would suggest to add is Musée Carnavalet in Le Marais. It is free and wonderful for the history of Paris. A couple of other great museums, not generally known and crowd-free are The Musée des Arts et Métiers, and the Galerie de Paléontologie et d’Anatomie comparée (this one is one of the most impressive and best of its kind anywhere)..

Love your channel! Been to Paris a few times and the one "touristy" thing I always do is the cruise. Only did the dinner cruise once and is was quite pricey so now, I buy an open ticket in advance for les Vedettes du Pont Neuf (so I can go at another day/time if the weather isn't the best) and take one of the last in the day. Around 930-10. There are often less people (I'm usually there in October) and seeing the city lit up like that is absolutely magical.

Back in 2018 my husband and I traveled to Paris for a few days, and on limited time and budget. We stayed at an Airbnb in Montmartre which is a great neighborhood to walk around- and includes the Dali Paris Musée which includes his sketches and sculptures, and easy to walk to Sacré Coeur. I was happy to see Musée d’Orsay and the river cruise on the Seine on this list. Both are worth it- the river cruise was suggested to me by a Parisian shop owner and that it was the best budget-friendly way to see Paris for the first time. She does a cruise from time to time to get a new perspective on her native city. Musée d’Orsay has a wonderful collection of lesser known but no less interesting works of famous artists, it’s easy to get around and allows taking in the artworks without large crowds- if you travel in the shoulder season. It is such a gorgeous city and would love to return there again.

Only one I’d give a hard pass to is the Moulin Rouge. Topless women were “naughty” 50 years ago. Now it just screams tourist trap. One thing to do in the Place des Vosges is visit the Maison Victor Hugo, and see not only his living quarters but his artwork. Admission to the permanent exhibits is free, I believe. Some other sites I would add (favourites of mine): the Musée Cluny (a.k.a. Musée du Moyen Age; they keep changing the name); the old Roman arena (Arènes de Lutèce); the Marais; the Rue Mouffetard; the Jardin des Plantes and the Bois de Boulogne. For trips just a short distance out of Paris, Chartres (the town and the cathedral).

I'm usually a quiet one for comments - but I gotta say this is a good timing for me personally as I disembarked the Eurostar today at Gare Du Nord for 3 nights and already checked out some of these. I'm not doing too bad for my "fish-out-of-water" situation. I used this channel for researching for the last months prior to arrival. So far everything your channel has presented is accurate (i.e. don't rely on contactless Navigo - correct me if I'm wrong). Do use some basic French phrases (Merci). I don't plan on anything outside Paris this time, but even the city itself gave me culture shock. Thanks again for good information.

So many things to see and places to visit! I first arrived in Paris (with a one-way ticket) 55 years ago next month, so I’ve seen most of the places on your top 25 list. But not all. Maybe I’ll stop by the Petit Palais next time. I used to visit the Conciergerie on Sundays for 50 centimes. It looks much more polished now. Maybe I should go back, just to see the changes. But my special place - the first place I go and the last I stop to see each visit - was not on your list: the Pont Neuf. Looking forward to sitting there again soon. Thanks for your videos.
