Hi, Im working on the Christchurch video and im wondering what sort of Skyline image I should have with the title? I thought I should ask you, I was also wondering whether it should be before Quakes or current, but I think current would be better as I am also planning to do Top 10 tallest demolished in CHCH and ill use that image then. I was thinking of one of the bottom 7 images I posted on here www.skyscrapercity.com/threads/rate-christchurchs-skyline-before-and-after-the-earthquakes.2305398/#post-172713714 I would love to know your thoughts :).

@@thecentralbusinessdistrict231 I know that this may sound a bit cheesy and a bit cringe but when you asked me what image you should use, I felt kinda honoured when you said that, as for the photos, recent is the better option than pre quake, with the photos themselves I'd say that your best options are the first 6 down at the bottom, probably the 1st 2nd or 3rd image would be perfect, but if I had to choose 1 I would probably go for the 2nd one, there are a lot more buildings in that picture, and of course this is a channel all about buildings, but if I were you I would go for the second image. I was thinking yeah the 2nd or 3rd image as they show a large portion of the Skyline from far away. Ill probably use the 2nd thanks a ton for the opinion!

How tall is the HSBC building which use to house air nz or west plaza and AMP building, they were pretty much landmark buildings in early 80s I think?

Yep they were the 3 tallest in Auckland in the 1980s. The AMP building just missed the list at #26 standing at 87M high it was the tallest in NZ when built in 1980 until the BNZ tower in Wellington opened in 1984 and tallest in AUK until the BNZ/QBE tower was built in 1986, the HSBC building is 81M high I beleive around #30 and was the tallest in NZ from 1971-1980, and the West Plaza is 74M high and was the 2nd tallest in AUK when built in 1974. As of 1980 they were the 3 tallest in the Country respectivley but have all been dwarfed by the newer skyscrapers coming up, still very big prominent buildings though.

Yep thats what im working from now (if you cant tell from my avatar im from CHCH) so im saving the best for last :). That should complete the indivudal NZ city high rises videos I could possibly squeeze in Porirua and Nelson but would also have low rise buildings in the mix.

Nice video. I am not a fan of Aucklands architecture for the most part (save one or two areas where the old colonial buildings have been preserved) and consider it somewhat of an ugly city - and I am not even a Boomer lol! But it is my hometown and have to admit a couple of the newer jobs are impressive. Well done on your efforts!

Cheers appreciate it! Yeah I agree, at least you still have some of those buildings, down in Christchurch we lost almost all of them after 2011. But yeah you grow to enjoy your own city and it’s little kinks and things it has all to itself. Thanks for watching!

what about the sky tower that is the tallest building in nz i have been there google new zealands tallest buildin

It probably deserved an include the sky tower is obviously the tallest structure in NZ, but folloiwng the Standards off Emporis and the CTBUH it is not counted as a building. It is a observation tower as less then 50% of its area is inhabitated, there is defintley a very good argument its a building and I should have maybe included it, but the sources I get my data from dont include is unfortuantely.
