Chris Wood, also known as The Woodsman or "The Kiwi Lewandowski" (a nickname he received in an interview), is currently in excellent form for both his club and country. He is part of a select group of players who have scored 10 or more goals in each season for the past five years when given consistent playing time. After skipping the Olympics and benefiting from a full pre-season and training with Nuno, he has revitalized his game. His impressive performance has not only helped the club but has also brought success to the New Zealand national team "The All Whites". During the last international break, he scored five goals in two matches, bringing his total to 41 goals in 80 appearances for his country. Additionally, he got married in the summer, and by the end of the season, he and his wife will welcome their first child.

Loads of work behind the scenes by the looks of it, to compliment what's been solid recruitment. Imagine European football in the mix as well, looking very promising

@@FootballDiaryPodcast For me, a mid-table finish this season would be the ideal goal, and qualification for the European competition would be a bonus. The recruitment surprised many who wrongly expected another madness but it was measured and the signings have excelled. Mr Marinakis is very ambitious, and his goal is to see all his sides in Europe. The investment has benefitted the first team and at every level in the club. The B-TEAM (U21/23) has improved, and the Women's team tops their league. The goal is WSL in the very near future.
