WIPEOUT !! That was the golden age of my gaming years when a kid. Was hard to overcome the steering manoeuvres but once mastered, damn the fun this game is. I even managed to teach my father with a lot of patience (and some dozing weed to absorb all this light in the brain :P) and it was my favourite game to play with him along with Toshinden (I don't recall which sequel) and Soul Caliber 2 :P It was that unforgettable time where the video game industry was booming and everyone was discovering it together at the same time :P

They need more game genres like this...games are seeming pretty generic now and days ...we need stuff like futuristic sport games, more fighters or Arena combat.

I’m happy to see Quantum Redshift on the list. It is absolutely a hidden gem from original Xbox. The desire to find a new game similar to Quantum Redshift is what brought me to this video in the first place.

Wipeout 3 is probably the first anti-gravity racing game I've played, and I liked it. I like some of it's OST and then my father showed me the OSTs of the other Wipeout series games which is great such as the Wipeout 2048 OST, that's when I realized there's other wipeout series games. I've played Wipeout Pure and Pulse in PPSSPP (PSP Emulator) and Wipeout 3 and the first one in PSX emulator. (I have played Wipeout 3 in PS1 first before all of these) I wish I can play Wipeout Omega Collection someday, I know I can't afford it yet but it's okay, at least have some experience in youtube.

Honestly, whar nakes these games so awesome is partially just how _unforgivingly FAST_ they are. You're hurtling down the track at ridiculous speeds, and one wrong move could send you hurtling towards a fiery doom. Hence why it's so exhilarating when you manage to pull it off

I loved wipeout and was pretty good at it and very good on roll cage 2 that was also a classic that even those who didn't play games normally loved that game. I have seen a version on ps plus which I will DL.

I remember being so confused when I played it for the first time in a shop and they had strapped the controller down so you couldn't get to the z button that was the accelerator. We weren't used to triggers back then!

The Anti Gravity Racers are like Arena Shooters, easy to pick up, demanding to master, have an almost infinite skill cieling and have been dead for decades despite an ever growing fan base around the classics, players forgotten by ddevelopers, Quake and FZero both suffure the same fate, remodeled their genre into something new and highly competitive, then got dwarved by more realistic games and kid friendly alternatives and today still atract many young players who want to learn about the history of their favorite medium, leaving people wonering, why is that, whenever the genra tries to come back it fails, yet the classics are today, still alive and kicking. PS: Wipe Out and F-Zero definitly deserve to be the top 2, no doubt, but, I feel that the racing focus of F-Zero over the combat focus of Wipe Out makes F-Zero the better game, but that's probably just prefference taking here. PPS: Maybe only 5 was limiting, Fast is really fun for owners of Wii, Wii U and Switch in this devoid of F-Zero Nintendo landscape, PC fans have spent billions of hours in Track Mania, it's quite different bu the phylosophy of breakneck speed racing, simple controls yet deep driving mechanics on absolutly unforgiving tracks is all there, even the gravity efying tracks, making it stan out even as an AG racer as it translated the momentum based gameplay of Sonic the Hegehog into 3D better than himself, and when you talk about Sonic an AG racing, the hoverboard games of the GameCube an Wii where really fun, Sonic Riders, Mario Kart, since the DS, aka; Since F-Zero ied, ventured into the AG territory a few times, especially with 8 and it's AG tracks and 200cc mode, but that's not replacing F-Zero, it's only going there sometimes, and Mario Kart is a kart racer first, when you play it, it's painfully obvious, but it's trying. There are many other games I just can remember or don't even know about. PPPS: My top 5 is: 1: F-Zero X 2: TrackMania²: Stadium 3: Fast R.M.X. 4: Sonic Riders (Game Cube) 5: F-Zero GX

Before my stepdad gave up his ktv bar/s (magic bees) in mabini (for the greater good) he had regular customers and some of them were even drug lords.. One time a regular customer of his gave me a birthday gift, my very own Nintendo, one tape was F Zero and there was another game tape i forgot if it was 1943 or something.. But i only played F Zero. No kidding i have mastered F Zero so much had cleared all stages at that time i would have been confident winning a tournament if there had been a chance.. It was a part of my childhood. 👍🏻

Yes I don’t understand the criticism of Wipeout fusion it was fantastic a step forward on from wipeout 3 with I loved, fusion was an excellent game.

While Fusion isn't my favorite in the series by any measure, to call it "abysmal" is incredibly harsh.

Who ever could have guessed what would be in the top spot...? ;) I haven't played enough AGRs for a top five of my own. Loved Quantum Redshift though, and nice to see it listed here. Fast RMX on Switch is great too. I have to agree with the top choice here though. wipEout Omega Collection on PS4 is great, and anyone who has PSVR needs to pick this up. It's got a good range of comfort settings, should you need them, but it's well worth giving your VR legs a workout to turn these off. So immersive!

I don’t understand the criticism of wipeout fusion, I’m a hardcore wipeout fan and believe this to be one of the best in the series, it was very immersive and the gameplay was excellent, the only criticism of it for me was that the game didn’t take long to master so was limited in that respect.

It was that it differed so drastically from the previous games in the series. The handling was so different from how ships controlled in previous games, the heavier focus on combat was divisive, and the art style change was not as well received.
